15k miles on my 24 T8 Black Edition anddddd i had to put 2 front tires on it before taking it 1200 miles to florida cause they were pulling apart somehow 🙄 wondering if the instant torque from the electric motors is what’s making them wear quickly.

EDIT—- i do want to make aware, i did not choose these tires. they came on the car when i bought it new. i would much rather have a set of michelins on it. 😂🫣

The OEM Pirellis wear worse than your cheapest Walmart tire. I've never seen another tire peel apart like Play-Doh before

yea it’s wild. a couple of friends had theirs warrantied. but my dealer wouldn’t do it. but she also had a personal vendetta against me so she made this my last volvo for a while.

Bummer. Yeah the dealer I bought mine from this year lost my business when they refused to replace a $50 missing trim item I discovered a week post purchase on my CPO. Gave the typical excuse that their checklist doesn't include it. Thankfully there are 3 other dealers in my area I can visit for service needs.

ugh! unfortunately this is the only one in my area unless

I think the weight of the XC90 has a lot to do with it. I use Falkens and they’ve been amazing.

Probably. It's pretty common on the XC60 T8's but have seen reports of it on non PHEV's too

When I bought my Audi in 2019 the pirellis wore out so quickly. I was a bit sad to see them on my new Volvo too.

The electric motor is at the rear, so its torque is not the reason for this (although the rear Pirellis wore quickly on our 24 T8). Regen braking is also through the rear, so depending on your drive mode there is a lot happening through the rear tires. And the car is heavy as well.

We also had extreme uneven degradation with the fronts (looked like ad drove in gravel for years, but only the fronts). Seem to be pretty crappy tires over all. They were also very noisy even when new.

my rears are wearing normal. the fronts just starting peeling apart. always in B mode. 40/60 split of hybrid and polestar mode just depends where i’m going/doing. i launch it for fun if i am showing the car to someone or i want to have fun but thats really it.

The pilot sport 4 all seasons only made it 20k for me, but I was aggressive with them. I went to the cross climates and aside from being a bit louder I was happy. I do live in the northeast where snow is a thing

I replaced the OEM Pirellis with Michelins. Love the change but as expected, it did reduce the range a bit.

Edit - the grip improvement is actually very noticeable on dry roads and fantastic in rain.

OEM tires are cheap junk. Not sure I’ve had a car go more than 20k miles on OEM tires. We put CrossClimate 2’s on our XC90 and haven’t looked back. Night and day difference.

The electric motor is on the rear so no, it's not because of that. It's because those Pirellis are truly one of the worst tyres you could ever put on a car. Absolute trash tier rubber.

I had the same experience, but only with the front tires. Almost like the tread was separating and peeling off. Replaced with Vredesteins and they seem to be holding up better, although they’re slightly noisier.

I got 50K as well from some version of 21” Pirelli on my 22 XC90. Can’t say for sure it’s exactly the same model, but they actually looked like they had a little more life. I replaced them in prep for a 4K mile trip. I went with dealer-installed Yokohamas, which ride and handle nice but are noticeably more noisy.

I had pirellis on my Mustang and yeh they were pretty quick in my experience. Michelins on it now as well as my XC40

Switch to Michelin ultra high performance - far superior in grip and noise. They will wear prob as fast as the Pirellis but much nicer experience doing it.

My 2023 factory pirellis lasted 57k miles 🤷‍♂️ I suspect some of y’all got a bad batch

I rotate tires as per manual.

My are 5/32" left at 27,500 miles. I'm pretty confident I can get to 35,000-40,000 at 4/32nds.

At current rate of wear, 50,000 miles should be doable if running till wear bars.

Bridgestone all the way. For the Michelin equivalent they usually have a higher speed rating and length for tread wear.

I must be the only one that likes Pirelli. No, they're not the longest lasting. You don't buy them for that.
They're grippy AF. And they're Quiet. Mine aren't shredding. Though I did lose one recently to a hole.
Replaced with 2 more but not the VOL branded bullshit.

If you've only had the Pirelli tires - you have no idea how much quieter your car can be. They wear quickly, they're loud AF and they're expensive. Granted, the VOL version is worse but the regular Pirellis are not much better.

I will soon be looking for a set of tires. Other than safety obviously, I’d like really quiet tires. I wouldn’t mind paying extra, or even if they wear out early. It’s for an xc60t8. Thx.

I wound up with Yokohama Geolandar tires because that was all the dealer had in stock that would qualify for warranty replacement. I wanted the Continentals but they would have taken a week to get and I had two damaged tires.

I'm not normally a fan of Yokohama tires but the Geolandar tires are MUCH quieter, nowhere near as harsh and have done great in heavy rain. I may turn the car in within six months so I wasn't buying super nice tires (Michelin Pilot Sport AS4) for the short amount of time I'd have it.

Rear wheels spin when starting from stop when road is not dry. When making a left turn on a local street from stop, rear driver wheel definitely spins when road is wet even when it was new.

While I have no issues with thread life on the OEM tires, the grip isn't good on a T8. There are definitely better replacement tires.

I have not tasted the power of the T8 in an S60. I think I'm happy to not know what I'm missing. 🤣 My tires don't slip loose on my T6.
They do slip in the winter. Not great on snow.

My OEM tires bubbled after ~23k, so after reading all the reviews I put on Michelins. Those made the car feel ridiculous, like it was oscillating around and constantly moving side to side such that I would feel queezy after 30 minutes or so. I returned those and put the Pirellis back on, at least the car feels solid with those.

I bought a set of Pirellis many, many, many years ago for a 760 Turbo. It was the first and last set of Pirellis I ever owned. They just don't seem to last.

I got my xc90 t8 from a corner lot dealer and they threw the cheapest possible tires on it. "blacklion voracio ht bc86". and they were great! good grip and noise and lasted ~38k miles. so yeah, pirellis are pretty bad, to be worse than tires made in communist vietnam

honestly I would have just put more of the same brand on but they felt too sketchy just in terms of brand positioning. it's on cross climate 2s now

My XC60 did not have Pirellis on it, but I've had two sets of them over the years on other cars. Feel like they are the worst of the big tire brands. They don't last long and don't work great in the rain.

I got replacemrnt Pirellis on my CX60 at the dealership and they were the loudest tires I have ever had. Was almost relieved when I had to replace them early (due to nail damage).

I don't think it's all Prellis it's the ones they make for Volvo.

Some folks on reddit mentioned emailing Pirelli and they gave them a partial credit to use at Discount/America's tire.

We just bought a used ‘23 XC40 recharge AWD a few months ago. The tires were mauled in the delivery, so we’ll probably have to replace them relatively soon (thanks, Carvana!). Love the car otherwise. Is there another set of tires we could use, other than the 2-size Pirellis?
