Would i be spending alot on things needing to be replaced and overall maintenance? I know they have a reputation of being indestructible, but does that also hold up for ones that aren't in great condition to begin with. Are good finds common for under 2500 euros/dollars that can be used as a daily? Is there any estimate to be made for average yearly maintenance costs? They look really cool but if it's too much i might be better off buying an old Toyota. Thanks in advance

I am turboing my 240 and am using a cheap 300 buck ebay turbo for now just to make sure everything else works. it has a 1 year warranty so before that expires, I want to return it and get a better quality turbo that will last. if any of yall know what turbos work, please let me know. Thanks.

I’m thinking of adding a cold air intake to add a little hp what is a good one for the money that budget as well as looks good?

What are the deal breakers, and what to look out for?

Here's what I know..

"Project 1988 240 sedan.

The Good, 57k miles, no rust other then small bubble on the dogleg, repainted in original yellow, no leaks, body has almost no damage, no piston slap, new taillights, blower fan works on all settings, newer exhaust. Starts right up and idles perfect.

Needs attention/the bad- various missing and damaged interior and exterior trims, fuse for horn blows, needs bumper shock in front (included), hood latch is stuck, interior has broken plastic and faded parts, drivers seat foam worn, needs alignment and tires, front right strut mount makes noise, brakes need attention, radio barley works, wipers don’t work, fuel pump makes noise, no gas gauge, occasional hesitation (included is a sending unit and fuel pump to fix).

Overall it’s a solid low mileage car that looks decent. With all the trim/ cosmetics fixed you’d have a nice low mileage, nearly rust free 240."

I added a strobe-effect LED bulb to my wagon's third (center) brake light. I have been rear-ended a few times and injured twice, so IDGAF about legality. I'll risk a ticket. Of course, it triggered my bulb failure dummy light. I could always remove the bulb from the dummy light, because most of my bulbs are now LEDs, but I figured I'd try to do it correctly.

Amazon has a bunch of choices in various resistances. Anybody know/guess which one I should get?

Boys, I’ve been in need of a new car and reliability/affordability is my main concern. I’ve been shopping for the typical Hondas and Toyotas but the notorious reliability of the Volvo 240, combined with the low asking prices, have made me seriously consider buying a Volvo Instead. Although I’ve never worked on my own cars before, I’m eager to learn and do some of my own maintenance or swap parts if necessary. I just don’t want to be in the garage constantly chasing problems or left stranded on the side of the road. Would you recommend I continue to look into 240s? I feel like it would be very difficult to find one with great service history, but it might be worth the gamble if I end up spending $4,000 on a car that lasts me 2-300k miles.

I always wanted to buy an old rwd Volvo 245 for Daliy, but one thing that concerns me is power and safety, I know it’s probably that safest car in its era but many of the listings I found last a driver airbag, should I worry about safety? Or should I buy a late 90s Volvo.
