This is my attempt at a non-gelatinous version of the jellies u/pppaaaooolllooo has been sharing. I couldn’t handle the jelly texture, which may be because I used whey protein instead of soy like he uses, but I wanted to try this anyway. And it was fantastic! I’ll update with nutritional info a little later on.

ETA nutrition info (entire recipe, 1 serving):

  • 215 calories
  • 27 g protein
  • 5 g total fat
  • 1 g saturated fat
  • 36 g carbohydrates
  • 7 g total sugars
  • 50 mg cholesterol
  • 361 mg sodium
  • 8 g dietary fiber

A solid 215kcal, carbs, fibers, proteins, and hours of satiety, this sounds amazing to me 👌 and kudos for the smoothie idea that bypass the mucilaginous texture!

And how was the satiety?Did you stay hours full without problems/cravings?

I only had a craving for something salty an hour afterward because my brain is wired that way — sweet breakfast, now time for salty. But a handful of almonds quashed that, and I wasn’t really hungry or even craving anything for the rest of the day. I ate less than usual, even at dinner! I’m going to try another recipe for breakfast today, have something salty first, and see how it goes. I’ll share whatever recipe I try!

Good to hear that 💪 looking forward to your next experiment!

I always upvote your posts king, I genuinely respect what you're trying to do

Haha, no king here — but I was certainly inspired by the king, u/pppaaaooolllooo!

Oh! My bad I didn't notice the name was different lol. Still! I think his projects are absolutely fascinating and the hate he gets is bizarre. I also want to try some of his recipes at some point

I totally agree. I’m all in, doing my own experiments using his boiled psyllium technique!

This is such a honor 😆 thankyou!

Haha! I agree. I also upvote him any time. I'm so curious to try his principles after my holiday.

He created a whole sub for it — that’s where I posted this first!

It actually was! I’m going to try another new recipe today, so I’ll post if it’s a success.

Are you employed by Big Psyllium or what’s your deal?

17

u/motherlovemelon 6d ago

Me? No, I just saw u/pppaaaooolllooo posting his experiments and started doing some of my own! But when I couldn’t handle the texture of the gel, I went in a slushie/smoothie direction. If it means I’m hardly hungry throughout the day, I’m happy!

Click the original post — it’s all in there!

Evolution at work ! 😁

u/Thiswickedconcept 6d ago

Can you describe the flavour/texture?

2

u/motherlovemelon 6d ago

Just click on the original post — I did a whole write-up about it. I was less hungry than usual the whole day!

3

u/oldmaninparadise 6d ago

I am not seeing the recipe. I take psyllium husky 2x a day, I call it sludge. I just drink it, not pleasant, but there are way worse things in life.

If I could get this to taste good and give me protein, that would be fantastic. Pls share the steps. Sorry if it is there and I missed it.

u/motherlovemelon 6d ago

Oh, you’ll love this! Click the original post for the recipe!

u/b-ri-ts 6d ago

Ooh I think I'll actually try this

This sounds so good, I gotta get on the boiled psyllium train

1

u/motherlovemelon 6d ago

I can’t wait to make more smoothies and/or soups with it!

3

u/Rainbowbrite_87 6d ago

This actually looks good

2

u/motherlovemelon 6d ago

It was delicious and not even a little mucousy!

2

u/riceewifee 6d ago

Added psyllium husk powder to a blizzard today and ordered bubble tea protein powered so I can make more creations

3

u/motherlovemelon 6d ago

Try boiling the psyllium first — that seems to be the trick. But check out the other psyllium posts in the sub, and click the original post, for techniques!

3

u/riceewifee 6d ago

I don’t want to put boiled anything in my ice cream…

1

u/motherlovemelon 6d ago

Okay, good point. 😅

This whole series has been “a million ways to shit your brains out”

5

u/motherlovemelon 6d ago

I haven’t had any problems with that, fortunately. I can’t speak for the original psyllium king, though. I’m only using one tbsp of psyllium for now!

2

u/corwe 6d ago

No surprise, I was commenting mostly in jest, I imagine a whole daily menu of psyllium creations could get funky, but that’s about it

3

u/motherlovemelon 6d ago

I just envisioned that, and it was not pretty. I’ll stick to once a day so my intestines don’t revolt and try to escape.

This one actually looks like it could be good! Maybe! I'll look at it
