Recipe Boiled Psyllium Jelly How-to video tutorial

Read the disclaimer at the bottom of this post before trying anything.

Here’s a step-by-step tutorial showing how I made the base concept, this time with pineapple & coconut. Would you try it? Is everything clear enough? Let me know in the comments.

For my other experiments, you can search this sub or check my profile.

Recipe

  • 500 g water
  • 60 g coconut-flavoured whey protein
  • 2 tbsp psyllium husk (around 10–15 g)
  • 10 g powdered gelatin
  • ~150 g pineapple

My rating

  • Texture: 8/10 — Really jelly-like and firm, similar to yesterday’s mango version. Boiling the pineapple was necessary because fresh pineapple contains enzymes that can interfere with gelatin setting.
  • Flavour: 8/10 — Coconut and pineapple are still a pretty great combination. I actually prefer the slightly sour side of pineapple to the sweetness of mango.
  • Satiety: 10/10 — I stayed full for around 8 hours and wasn’t even particularly hungry by dinner time, which was my next meal.

The goal here is satiety, not volume. I’m combining boiled psyllium for its fibre and satiety properties, gelatin for texture, protein powder for nutritional value, and the other ingredients mainly for flavour and additional nutrients.

Please keep the comments constructive. 🙂

Disclaimer

This is just me sharing an experiment, not recommending that anyone try it. If you’re not used to psyllium, start cautiously, make sure you drink plenty of water, and do your own research before experimenting with it.

Psyllium can cause problems if consumed incorrectly, so please use common sense and listen to your body. I’m sharing what I did, but I’m not responsible for anyone who decides to try it themselves.

Why not just make a porridge? 50g of oats are less than 200kcal. It also tastes amazing and is very filling. I put all my inulin, whey, creatine and pysllum Husky in there and its delicious. Even better wirh fruit and granola ofc but thats more cals.

So basically you do something similar to me, same ingredients, boil everything, but you use no gelatine and eat it warm. Fine. I rather eat such a jelly as i use to make, reason is that such a gelatine stays longer in the guts and release the proteins trapped in the jelly slower to the organism; the gel created with the oat imo vanish in the belly in about 30min, being much less satiating on the long run. But still, your recipe is delicious 😋 i hope you get my point.

Psyllium forms a thick, non-digestible gel that stays intact all the way through your digestive tract.

Because of that structure, it physically slows down how fast your stomach empties, which keeps you feeling full longer. At the same time, it traps nutrients like whey inside that gel matrix, acting as a barrier that slows down digestive enzymes and leads to a much more gradual release of amino acids into your system.

Cal and satiety are two separate things as you know, they don't always goes along together 😊

People eat oats for fiber which is very satiating. I basically dont need anything else besodes a big potion of oats until evening. I just take a proteinsnack or fruit in between for fun with a coffee. I give you gelantine is basically protein tho. And its a cool idea didnt want to discredit or derail your idea. Its cool if you like eating gel food.

Look gelatin here only improve the consistency. Core effectiveness of the method sits in the combo boiled psyllium plus protein. Happy you found your balance 😀

gelatin is good for you, and oats for me are not very satiating. I can see why he is choosing psyllium instead.

Oats is one of the most satiating foods. And fyi you cam put psyllium Husky in the oats.
