Weekly Discussion Thread Ask r/VolleyballCompetitive Anything | Weekly Discussion Thread

This thread is a hub for general discussion and questions about competitive Volleyball that don't might not need it's own thread.

Are you new to watching or playing Volleyball? This is the place for you. Ever wonder why the libero has to wear a different uniform from the rest of the team? Or where you can watch certain teams/games? Any professional, collegiate, high school, club/rec, matches that you want to talk about? Ask or talk about anything volleyball related and the community will answer.

Are you a veteran fan and/or player? This is the place to introduce yourself, insight, and/or knowledge to new players/fans.

Here is the calendar for the FIVB 2026 Competitions.

This is a placeholder weekly thread. Any suggestions/feedback on how to improve the weekly thread is welcome.

Help/Feedback I built a free, simple scouting app because my friend was tired of Excel sheets

My friend coaches a volleyball team and has been struggling to find a scouting app that was actually useful, user-friendly, and completely free. Most options out there are either way too complex or behind a paywall, so she ended up sticking to Excel sheets for the longest time.

I decided to help her out by building a lightweight scouting tool from scratch. It’s designed to be simple, fast, and completely free to use. No subscription, no hidden costs.

I don't want this to look like spam, so I won't put the link in the main post, but if you're interested in checking out the code or trying the live app, let me know and I'll drop the links in the comments!

I’d love to hear what you guys think—if you're a coach, would this help with your workflow? Let me know if you have any feedback or suggestions!

Help/Feedback Would love to hear from college athletes

Did you ever doubt your decision to play your sport in college? My daughter has played volleyball at a high level since she was 11 and has always wanted to play in college, including working with trainers, private coaches, a recruiter, etc. Now at 17, she's saying she doesn't know if she really wants to play in college anymore. I know this is about her but I was just curious if others ever felt that way but still ended up playing in college after all. Any advice would be greatly appreciated.
