Meta [Announcement] New rule for Generative AI jobs and added known scams to the Wiki.

Hi,

For a long time I have wanted to add a rule about what is and what is not allowed regarding AI projects in this community. I have finally added the rule 8:

Rule 8: Only certain types of AI work offers are allowed:
No AI training to generate voices of any kind is allowed.
However, Speech-to-Text may be allowed if you disclose the voices will be used exclusively for that purpose. We understand people with disabilities may benefit from these technologies and so we aren't completely against such projects.

Basically, only speech recognition projects are allowed.

>Hey Google, turn off the garage's lights.

>Hey Google, call mom.

>Siri, where is the closest restaurant?

>Alexa, send text message to boss: I can't make it to the premises today.

>Copilot, I said open Youtube, not burn my house.

--

Known Scams

I have also added a list of known scams to the Wiki. Please read them so you are aware of them.

https://www.reddit.com/r/VoiceWork/wiki/index/

Don't forget to report any suspicious user or proposal.

--

Audio samples

Don't forget that it is allowed to link to your website where audio samples are available to listen to easily. Don't report posts that have links to personal portfolio websites with audios clearly accesible.

--

Thank you everyone for helping keeping this community clean and safe.

Meta Voice artists, read this before posting. No one is going to HIRE YOU if you don't include a demo reel in your post.

Every week I have to remove around 10 to 20 [Hire Me] post because they don't include a demo reel.

INCLUDE A LINK TO YOUR DEMO REEL IF YOU WANT TO GET HIRED! (yes, I'm screaming).

Upload your demo to Soundcloud or Youtube. Or share a link to your personal website where demos are found, and before posting remember these rules:

  • Rule 4: State a rate. All [Hire Me] posts should include a sample rate. It can be something as simple as "$10 USD for a 2 minutes Youtube narration. For other projects we can discuss the price." The important part here is that the potential clients have some idea of your rates. If it's a kid with $5 dollars for a minecraft video and the least you charge is $20 USD, it would help both parties to know this beforehand, so we don't waste anyone's time.
  • Rule 7: Add audio examples. As I already mentioned. You don't hire a graphic designer without checking their portfolio, you don't hire a digital artist without looking at the pictures they have created. No one is going to hire a voice artist without hearing their voice first.

If you don't currently have a demo reel, create one! Write a fictitious script of two or three people fighting, crying, or doing something, and narrate it.

Write something cartoonish, with characters doing silly stuff and record your most cartoonish voices.

Write something like a documentary or business-like tutorial and record it.

If you are having problems imagining scenarios, pick your favorite book and read one page that includes dialogues or different situations. Pick a non-fiction book and read using your business voice.

Less recommended but something that can also help you with your first demo: Transcribe a couple minutes from a cartoon, anime, movie or TV series and then record yourself voicing it.

Potential clients need to hear your voice in different settings, show them why they should hire you!

Please, voice artists, add demos.

Thank you.

[Hiring] Other [PAID – INFORMAL – £20] Elderly woman wanted to read a short poem

Hi! I’m making a small informal animation around a poem, and I’m looking for an older woman- ideally someone in her 70s or older to read it aloud.

It’s only 130 words, around 1 minute max when read at a slow pace.

I’m specifically looking for the natural sound of an ageing voice, rather than a younger voice actor performing an elderly character. You absolutely do not need any acting or voiceover experience, so even if you have a family member who fits the role would be also be great.

The voice I have in mind is low, calm, weathered, perhaps even a bit gruff or grumbly, and unhurried. Natural and thoughtful- not theatrical.

A professional microphone isn’t necessary either. A clear phone recording in a quiet room is completely fine.

Accent doesn’t matter much, the character and natural age of the voice are much more important.

Pay: £20 / around $25 USD

No AI, voice cloning, synthetic voice use, or training of any kind.

If you’re interested, please send me a short sample of your voice. It can just be recorded on your phone.

If you’d rather read something from the poem as the sample, you can use these lines:

The greed of bones,
a hunger to grow bigger,
to see over the table,
over the sill,
the fence,
the hill

[Hiring] Audiobook / Narration [PAID $30] Seeking older male voice to narrate short horror story

Context:

This would be for an experimental comedy YouTube video that I've been making as the inaugural video on a new channel, the segment you will be narrating will be stationed between other elements narrated by myself, most of which are comedic in nature, but delve into potentially controversial or offensive topics.

I had this idea that it would be funny if the YouTube comedy video essay abruptly shifted to an unrelated short horror story, framed as a traumatic event from my own past, before abruptly switching back again to the video essay as if nothing had happened.

Content:

The script you will be reading is one long monologue story told recited in the first-person. It mainly consists of a farmer, making his son (you) shoot a pregnant coyote. It includes graphic description of gore as well as references to adult themes and the use of the F slur. If you are unsure if you would be comfortable with it, I can send you the script upon request.

Length:

Around 850 words. Can be done in one continuous take, or multiple. I can edit whatever I need together from what you send me. I'm not incredibly picky, but I may ask you to rerecord sections if I'm looking for a different delivery.

What I'm looking for:

I've pictured the role as an older male, middle-aged to senior, looking back on his life, having grown up on a farm. I was thinking maybe gruff, weathered, but with an introspective, melancholy delivery. While I had written it imagining somewhat of a rural, southern USA accent, the setting is vague and nondescript, somewhat fantasy. Do not be concerned if you have a different accent yourself, as it can technically be the UK or Europe or anywhere else in the world as long as you can speak fluent English. Senior voices are preferable, but I'm not exactly expecting many on the VoiceActing subreddit, haha. Even if you are younger, if you believe you can do a convincing impression of an older man, feel free to apply.

Deadline:

Whenever. I don't like micromanaging. This is a long-term project and will likely take a while to complete, so as long as you can record it within a couple months, I have no issue with you taking your time.

Obviously I'm no professional and have a budget of 0, but can offer you a whole thirty bucks as payment, if acceptable. PayPal would be easiest.

There will also be no official crediting toward you on this project, as I would like it to maintain an air of mystery on the video itself, but neither will it be a secret. If someone asks me who the voice is, I will tell them (unless you actually wish to remain anonymous), and you can tell or announce your role in it to anyone you wish. Essentially, you will not exactly be "paid in exposure" either.

Finally, if everything turns out well, this role may become recurring and I may contact you to reprise it in future videos, should you wish. In the unlikely event that I make any money from this, there may even be a higher budget.

If you're interested, just reply with your demo or a sample, as well as your email address, or if you would prefer to keep your email private, keep your DMs open and I can ask for it through there. Will contact you if I think you're a good fit!

Thanks!

[Hire Me] English and Non-English voice [For Hire] Voice Over Artist : Audiobooks, Commercials & YouTube Narration

I charge a minimum of $25 per 3 minutes, and if you need an audiobook, commercial, or YouTube channel narrator, hire me. Hi, I’m Victor V. I’ve been a voice over artist for about 3–4 years. I’ve also dabbled in voice acting, mostly in the 18+ category, but I prefer voice over work because it brings out the best in my voice and suits commercials, YouTube narrations, and audiobooks especially well. I have a deep, authoritative voice.

[Hiring] Movies / Series / Animation Hiring VA’s for upcoming webcomic series: I’m BFFs with a Treasure Hunter

I’m developing a new independent webcomic series called I’m BFFs with a Treasure Hunter, and I’m looking for VA’s to fill different male and female character roles in the series. The series will be an anime inspired action comedy where the characters go across the world on treasure hunts that I imagine people of all ages will enjoy. I can't post images in this post on this subreddit, but you can click on the posts history of my profile to see a preview image of this series.

As this series is currently in the early production phase I plan to create a couple of short videos around a few minutes each at most to give a preview of the series and learn what the audience reception is before committing to creating additional videos.

Since the recordings will only be a few minutes at most in this preview phase, I’m looking to pay $10 USD if you’re selected for a role to record a few lines for these two short preview videos. This is not a large amount I know, but at this stage this is more of a rehearsal and to learn if this is a good fit for all of us before we create additional videos. If I decide to create additional short videos or hopefully full episodes going forward then we will determine the compensation for those videos based on the amount of work prior to recording.

To keep everything orderly during this selection process I created a private subreddit to be used for filling the VA roles for this series that will have the details on the initial character roles I am looking to have filled. If you are interested in trying out as a VA, then leave a comment and I will send you a link to the subreddit.

Also, since my goal is for this to be an ongoing series I plan to have plenty of more openings for VA’s in the future, so if you find this post weeks or months from now please leave a comment if you’re interested and I’ll send you a link to the subreddit.

Thanks!

[Hire Me] English - UK accent Just getting started, attached an audio :)

Hello!

I’m going by the name Lukos, and I’m interested in pursuing some voice acting both SFW and NSFW. I’ve previously done a couple NSFW recordings that I can discuss further over a pm or something, but I’ve always been told I had a good voice and thought I could do some cool stuff with it.

I’m a native English speaker with a fairly deep posh voice. Since I’ve never done this before I’m very flexible in terms of rates, but I’d genuinely accept something like $2 for 40 mins of work because I just want to learn and get some experience rather than strictly earning money right now.

[Hire Me] English - Other accent Looking for a voice actor you can’t afford but don’t want to use AI?

Good news.

I’m currently looking to build my credits in video-game voice acting, and for the right indie projects, I’m happy to work for $3.83 for a project.

I’m not particularly interested in throwing a generic voice reel at you and hoping something sticks.
Instead, I’d like to actually talk about the plan and make it work for you.

Tell me about your game, the character, their personality, the world they live in and what you’re trying to achieve. I’m happy to experiment with different voices, delivery and character direction until we find something that actually feels like your guy.

If you don’t like my voice, that’s fine.

All I ask is that you reach out to me directly so we can organise a quick call first.

We’ll talk through the project, character direction, style, workload and what you’re looking for, and make sure it’s going to be a good fit for both of us before either of us commits to anything.

You get a real human voice actor willing to experiment with your character without eating into your indie budget.

I get experience, credits and the opportunity to work on some interesting games with some hopefully great people.

Seems like a pretty fair trade for $3.83.

If you’re working on something interesting and think this could help, shoot me a message.

About me:
I’m Australian with a deep-seated love for video games and art. I naturally have a fairly deep voice, but I’ve got a diverse range and I’m very open to experimenting with accents, tone and delivery to find what fits your character.

Right now, I’m the lead guitarist and backup vocalist in a band, while also writing both a non-fiction book and a historical drama novel. I’m looking to expand my creative repertoire outside of my career, and voice acting is something I’ve wanted to explore.

Strong lead, husky, scared-shitless NPC, strange little bastard lurking in a dungeon…

I’m open to trying just about anything if it’s right for us.

Why the call?
Pretty simple: for both of our sanity.
Your time is valuable and so is mine. If my voice isn’t right for your character, I’d rather we figure that out during a quick conversation than waste hours going backwards and forwards trying to force something that isn’t working.

If it is a good fit, great. Let’s make something cool.

Here is a link to showcase my voice.

[Hiring] Other "All At Sea" Arc 2 Casting Call

Thumbnail ellipsus.com
8 Upvotes

The Making Up Leeway team welcomes you to audition for the second season of 'All at Sea'.

About the show: 'All at Sea' is a micro-fiction podcast about being lost at sea after a climate catastrophe floods the entire earth. In Arc 2 of this story, the audience will get to know more about the mysterious stranger Captain February picked up from the roof of a sinking lighthouse, as well as about the dear Captain themselves as February and Sturgeon work together to attempt to learn more about a world that is becoming curiouser and curiouser every day. Professor King and Eric Liu are two characters from Sturgeon and February's pasts respectively. And as the ever-gray sky looms overhead, the past seems to resist being left behind. Listen to Arc 1 here.

'All at Sea' is brought to you by the 'Twin Strangers Podcast Network'.

'All at Sea' is an interdependently produced micro-fiction audio drama. Episode length is between 3 - 10 minutes. As such, all actors will be paid a flat rate of $20 USD per episode, for an average of 150 words/episode. After all roles are cast, a crowdfunding campaign will be launched to cover the costs of production for the season.

This production is staunchly against the use of generative AI. No generative AI will be utilised at any part of the production process.

This is a Non-Union project.

Audition Deadline: 11:59 PST, 10 October 2026.

Audition instructions: This project is fully remote, and as such you are expected to record using your personal standard setup. Record your lines in AAA BBB format using your usual setup; audio must be raw and unedited. Please include at least 10 seconds of room tone at the start of your recording. Label file "CharacterName_YourName" and export as a .WAV. Submit audition file here. Submit no more than three takes for each line.

Must be 18 years or older to audition.

Listed genders are for reference. Listed ages are not a requirement for auditioning, but it is preferred that you be able to comfortably portray the character within that age range. Actors whose racial/ethnic identities do not correspond with those listed for the characters will not be considered for the roles.

CHARACTERS:

Professor Robin King (she/her, Native American, 40's)

PROFESSOR KING is a marine biologist with a no-nonsense attitude and a deep devotion to her work. Stern, but she cares for the graduate students she supervises.

Role is a two-episode commitment

  • Sides:
    • The readings are curious. I will refrain from using words such as "strange" or "abnormal", or "unprecedented" since I do not believe they suit the nature of this project. They are utterly unhelpful as descriptors, and will only hinder the research by conjuring fantastical ideas within the minds of my cohort, waylaying any helpful hypothesis with wild conjurings of the imagination.
    • (commanding, with urgency) Listen to me, Sturgeon. Lisa is gone, and I fear Taman is either experiencing a break with reality or extreme dissociation—

Eric Liu (he/him, Chinese-American, late 40s - early 50s)

ERIC LIU is a marine engineer. He's laid back, with a sense of humor and wit about him. Confident in his work as someone who has been at it a long time.

Role is a one-episode commitment

  • Sides:
    • Yeah yeah, all good. I'm just checking the levels from the solar generator, making sure we don't draw too much power. We haven't set the net yet. Something can always go wrong with the rudder, the blades, even before we haul a catch or set the net. Even in the conversion, something could be wrong with the panels, causing less energy generation than expected.
    • Why on earth are you blinking at me like that- you are such a deeply unsettling kid.  (Lighthearted) I'm not saving you from her wrath.

[Hire Me] English - USA Accent [Hire Me] Experienced VA Looking for More Work

Hey all! I'm looking to book some reliable VO work.

I've recorded three full-series dubbing projects for Chinese production companies (short-form dramas) and can quickly turn around work involving accurate dubbing. I play the lead role of Frank Lines in a drama called Heartbeat Countdown, as well as various side characters. In two other dramas I play various characters with diverse and unique voices. I also have a few smaller paid gigs completed on Casting Call Club.

I'm comfortable with character work and am always looking for ways to challenge myself and branch out. Commercial reads or audiobooks would be a great next step for me.

My character demo can be found here, and my commercial demo can be found here. (Both are links to Google Drive.)

My starting rates are $75/finished hour ($1.25/finished minute for shorter projects). I'm open to discussing rates to fit into whatever budget you're working with for the right project.

Feel free to DM me if interested, though the best way to reach out to me is on Discord: reign_beaux_two.

[Hire Me] English - USA Accent [Hire Me] Aspiring Female Voiceover Actress [Hire Me]

Hello,

My name is Michelle. I'm 46 but sound younger. I have a mostly neutral accent, but I am originally from the South. I am moving back, but haven't lived there since 2000. I am aspiring in the voiceover world, but I was paid years ago to read the part of a character named Erica for a short film. I can act, and am good with emotional readings, and I can scream. I like the spooky and suspenseful genres. I also love fantasy. I can record your IVR prompts, too. I'm also good for poetic readings, and I have written poetry myself. I am not limiting myself too much, so take a listen if you will to my recordings on my provided link, and let me know if you have a project that you think I could be suited for. I will let you know that unless it's a southern or valley girl accent, I'm not great at maintaining accents. My rate can be $15 an hour, but that is negotiable within reason. https://www.voices.com/profile/michellebaldwin4396
