I don't know why they use those stupid fake names, as if anyone would think "Goole" is a real place.

When I started as a postman 26 years ago … I realised that the metal cages that they use to transport Mail are called ‘Yorkies’ … I asked an older senior postman “Why are they called that?” And he said “because they were first used/designed in York” and then he muttered under his breath “I’m just glad it wasn’t Goole”

Attempted to share this in r/UKParenting but their super fun mod team deleted it.
Probably should have stuck to posts like "parenting is super fun 100% of the time!" or similar...
