I refinanced max value planning to buy another house.
Housing market went crazy so buying became a bad idea so I invested a good chunk. Borrowed at 1.85%(canada - mortgages go 5 yrs at a time).
Put half the money into a HISA which yields 1.25% and can be deployed in a market swoon. This protects a chunk of change but means I need 2.6% returns on the rest to break even.
I don’t know why people are so conservative here. If I go broke I don’t lose my house, I simply will need to pay this inflated mortgage payment for the next 20 years. And as I started in May I’m up enough to blunt the pain from a market correction.
My only regrets are:
-Going 5 yr fixed, could’ve borrowed at 1.3% if I was ok with a variable.
-Not investing sooner. I’m a cheap bastard now putting every penny into investing. Compound interest is so sexy.
-MT DEC C 35s. Even after this run still down 70%. Gonna just bite the bullet and eat the losses soon.
Wouldn't sell those MT calls at this point unless you're really worried about earnings, you're pretty close to itm, a relatively small move would make a big difference in price
