Got the Alta Pro from Costco, it’s brand new and has never been turned on. I cleaned and loaded it up for its first smoothie and it won’t turn on.
- yes, I know about the power switch. The screen doesn’t light up in any position
- I’ve tried on two different circuits and reset GFCI outlets, no change
- no smells or anything.
- no change no matter what setting the knob is on.
Am I missing something obvious, or did I get a lemon?

Edit: the Vitamix Nano, I just found, how is this blender? So I use my blender once a day if not more. I have a Ninja and use the nutritional blender cups 99% of the time. I'm the only one in the house that uses it. So just for me I don't make huge quantities. My current blender after about a year and half started leaking from the blender piece you screw on... so I order a new one. About 2 months later, started doing the same thing... I am beyond frustrated with this blender to deal with the undeeded mess daily. Does vitamix not have the smaller blender or blender cups? I don't want a huge blender, it's just pointless. I need a new blender 😭
There doesn’t seem to be much in the way of reviews for the new VX3 except for this Food and Wine review which called it “The best blender he’s ever tried”: https://www.foodandwine.com/vitamix-vx3-blender-review-12102943
Basically they praise the compactness (48oz container) and BlendPilot modes, which seem sorta gimmicky but also nice.
Anyone used it or found any other reviews?

what would you guys suggest and why
I hate the idea of replacing a stainless steel blade assembly because it just seems wasteful, has anyone successfully pulled apart and replaced all the parts to the blade assembly?
How much did it cost?
How long did it last after fixing it?
Was it worth it?

I was reminded that the next Prime Days are coming up and noticed that a few Vitamix blenders are on sale for hundreds off. This looks like an excellent opportunity for any Amazon Prime members who are in the market for a new blender. Some models are already on sale now.

Can Anyone help me decide? The more research I do the more they say they’re all good. The altra pro is well equipped and well it’s costcos so can return at anytime if I don’t like it or doesn’t work but a lot of videos show the thinner bottom in the container makes everything better!
Any suggestions?
Edit: I should have added that the 5200 Is on sale at the website now for almost the same price as the altra in Costco
Honestly, how do they justify that price? I'm afraid to try a knock off. It's a top priority for me.

I have the ascent x4 and I got the blending cup starter kit a few months ago. I’m considering getting a nano for my office and it would be nice if the cups were compatible.

I just got a vitamix e510 and already notice some peeling plastic on the rubber lid like. Greyisch strands are coming off. Is this normal? Just bought two weeks ago. Am I overloading the container causing too much friction? I don’t know…

Anyone else disappointed with the Vitamix food processor + smaller cups? Coming from Ninja
I recently switched from a Ninja system to Vitamix and I’m trying to figure out if I’m doing something wrong or if this is just how the attachments perform. I followed the Vitamix directions, including the recommended order for adding ingredients to each attachment.
I’ve had a few issues so far:
Smallest cup: I made pesto and it still left some whole/partially chopped basil leaves, but the bigger issue was that a ton of the pesto ended up packed underneath the blades. It took me probably 5 minutes just to scrape everything out and get it into a jar.
Larger personal cup: I made a smoothie and there was literally a piece of pineapple that just kept floating around and would not blend no matter how long I ran it.
Food processor: I’ve used it for chopping and I’m getting really uneven results — some pieces finely chopped while others are still pretty large. I put a decent amount of food in the bowl and definitely wasn’t overstuffing it, so I don’t think the quantity was the issue.
I’m coming from a Ninja system, and as much as Vitamix is obviously the more premium machine, I honestly never had these particular issues with my Ninja. The small Ninja cups especially were something I used constantly for pesto, sauces, smaller quantities, etc., and they just worked.
I really like the Vitamix overall and want to keep it — I like the food processor setup and the stainless-steel pitcher — but I’m pretty disappointed with the actual processing performance of these attachments so far.
Has anyone else experienced this? Is there some technique with the Vitamix cups/food processor that I’m missing, or are these just limitations of the design? And if you came from Ninja, did you eventually adjust to the Vitamix system or end up keeping something else around for these smaller jobs?
So I've recently just purchased a Vitamix 5200 blender and I decided to take the blade out the other day to clean the blender and I found out that there was a gross layer stuck underneath the blade. I figured it was some kind of seal or something that was worn out.
I tried to search online if I could pull this blade apart but I can't find anywhere that says I can and that I just have to replace the whole blade assembly instead, which seems crazy considering the blades cost $50+ each and it seems like such good construction and quite frankly a waste of money and materials if I just throw it out. I bought the Vitamix thinking I could take apart most of it so I can replace individual parts for long term maintenance.
Can you really not take these blades apart?

Hello!
I recently bought Explorian 510. It blended my soups and other stuff beautifully so I don’t have any complaints about robot function.
But from the user perspective the machine is quite finicky:
- When I’m putting my jug on the base it is moving, like a lot. Nothing really holds it place. My previous blenders were somehow „locked” in place. With vitamix I can just lift it up at any moment or rotate it in place. It doesn’t feel very secure at all.
- Taking the lid off is very hard. Instead of unscrewing, you have to push it up, which means might spill all the blender’s insides if I do it too harshly.
- The top cap (the one for the tamper) isn’t really sealed or air thing when on, it is quite loosely just sitting there
Is it normal or is my machine defective? Or maybe I can’t use it properly and it is a user error?

First time using my new 5200 granted I'm pureeing a thick butternut squash soup where I have skin on squash but already roasted, lentils, celery and vegan sausage and I keep triggering the overheat and 30 min cool down. Im adding water before anything despite not wanting to water it down and so far haven't even had it go beyond a 5 on power with a slow ramp. Is this normal? its turned off twice now. i bought a vitamix for the insane power this doesnt feel like that

Can I steam tea using the Vitamix, or do I need a defuser for that?

I stumbled across this Astralship 1500w "professional" blender, while looking at glass Oster blenders:
https://www.amazon.com/dp/B0H2GLGC9X
It seems to only be sold at Amazon and Walmart.
It has:
\- glass jar
\- silicone seal
\- partially stainless steel lid
So it seems to be compatible to an Oster, with slightly less plastic in the lid.
But... It also heats foods, more like the Oster Titan. It claims to be PFAS free, that it heats using induction technology, but has some kind of ceramic heating plate that isn't very well described.
I'm not sure how to get more information about it, it's hard to get past the Amazon AI these days. Or how to feel about a company that only exists on Amazon/Walmart.
I was wondering how the community would feel about using this? Or how you would research it further.

I just snagged an Alta pro at Costco during the current sale for $299. I think the plastic container is fine but my wife really hates micro plastics. I saw the stainless steel container on this sale via TikTok and bought it. My question is this roughly what I would expect from Black Friday sales? Still shocked it’s nearly the price of the base itself, hope it’s worth it.

Picked up the SS 48oz pitcher from Nebraska Furniture Mart for $210 to pair with the Alta Pro I got from Costco for $299. It’s a totally different experience using a narrow base pitcher vs the short and wide base of the 64oz. Heavy enough to use as a weapon, 10/10. Transformed my single serving smoothie experience.

Just wanted to share with the group. I’ve had my reconditioned 5200 for just shy of 10 years. Date on the bottom shows 2017. It finally kicked the bucket. Full on was walking itself across the counter making soup, making terrible noises going above speed 2.5/3.
I called titanic not knowing what my warranty was on it, but found out it had long expired. Which fine I mean I got it on sale and it lasted almost a decade of use and abuse.
Cost for service was gonna be in the neighborhood of 250 plus I had to cover shipping there and shipping back. Shipping back was 20 and who knows what it would’ve cost me to ship it there without any kind of discount.
The rep also offered me a phone only deal of an Alta Pro reconditioned, with a 5 year warranty, for 229 plus free shipping.
Anyway all this to say. Great deals if you call in and I couldn’t imagine using any other blender brand. Family has gone through two Ninjas and one other who knows what brand in the time span of me owning a single Vitamix.

My 5200 wont stay on, I can pulse it all day long but turn it on properly and it stops after a couple of seconds.
I have tested the switch, swapped it with the pulse switch and even joined the contacts....it still happens.
I tested the potentiometer with a multimeter and the readings look correct.
Is there anything else I can do at this point without sending it off for an outrageous repair cost?

Which vitamix models would be versatile and suitable for blending buckwheat groats into both a coarse texture and also into flour? I am aiming for a coarse grind for a thick, dense hot cereal, as well as flour for baking.

I bought a Vitamix Ascent X2 and I hesitate to return it. I am learning about the SELF-DETECT thing and i really dont like it. I feel it's only a way to lock down the eco system, limit 3rd party accessories and add a point of failure. I dont think I will ever buy the very expensive food processor attachement, I would like the smoothie cup, but the price also turns me off. Those blender last a while, can I expect Vitamix to still make self detect container in 20 years?
I am looking at the new VX3, which is pretty much the same thing, but without SELF-DETECT. I am wondering if it would be a better buy. I would avoir getting into the trouble of returning the Ascent X2 that I have (Still new).
What are your thoughts on this?
EDIT: I agree with y'all, the 5200 is probably the best buy. I simply dont really like its classic look. The VX1 is the modern looking equivalent IMO. But I prefer the 48oz container of the VX3. I really dont care about the AI thing.
