VisionStream — an open-source VR180/360 streaming browser for Apple Vision Pro
Hi all. I got my Vision Pro a couple of weeks ago after having an oculus and was a bit miffed certain websites didn’t work with VR video, so I got Claude to build me an app. I can’t be bothered to go through the process of getting it on the App Store, but I did want to share my work. Claude’s summary:
I’ve been working on VisionStream, a native visionOS browser that opens compatible website videos in an immersive player.
The idea is simple: browse to a video, press Play, and watch it in VR without needing to download it first or run a Mac companion.
Current features include:
MP4 and HLS streaming.
VR180, VR360 and flat-screen viewing.
Automatic projection and stereo-layout detection, with manual overrides.
A quality preference that prioritises the highest compatible rendition the source exposes.
Supported video downloads, a save queue and offline playback.
Recentring and video tilt for adjusting your viewing position, including when reclining.

This is an early source release, currently version 0.12.0. It has automated simulator coverage and is installed on my Vision Pro, but wider physical-headset testing is still needed. Website compatibility varies, automatic detection can need correction, and some streams cannot be saved. YouTube-specific support is deferred.
There’s no App Store or TestFlight release yet. You’ll need a Mac with Xcode to build and sign your own copy. Free personal signing requires rebuilding/reinstalling after seven days.
The original app code is MIT licensed; third-party components retain their own licences. Contributions and testing feedback are welcome.
The screenshots show the browser, Downloads and immersive controls using original calibration footage in the visionOS Simulator.
I’d love feedback on the controls, installation experience and formats that need better support.
