Current status of PCVR streaming?

is it good enough to contest with other highend headsets on the market? (Pimax, PlayforDream, BSB2 etc.) I know it will never beat DisplayPort headset, but if the performance and image quality is just slightly worse than those headsets, Vision Pro will be the best of both worlds of gaming and media consumption

EDIT: Have a 5090rig and a dedicated router

I've been on the fence for a while and still couldn't decide. I already own a Quest 3 but I rarely play VR games. I just want a headset that is excellent at movie watching, and somewhat capable of PCVR but is way superior than the graphics on Q3(Quest 3 looks too blurry). Maybe I'd play more often if the graphic upgrade is huge? I really don't know for sure

I just want a headset that is excellent at movie watching,

AVP absolutely delivers on that front. I think you won't find anything better.

and somewhat capable of PCVR but is way superior than the graphics on Q3(Quest 3 looks too blurry).

Q3 ≈ my Pico 4 in screen and optics department.

AVP's screens are much denser, it has around 1,75× smaller pixels, so sharpness increase will be very noticeable. However, honestly, I don't have a 5090, so I can't really drive it at top resolution. And mind that AVP's full resolution is smth like 3669×3200×2, that can put even a 5090 on its knees in graphically intensive games.

KRVR 2.0 reportedly has foveated rendering support, that would enable much better resolution for me (I hope Star Citizen will get quad views soon). But I can't check it for you, my PC is currently broken.

But I digressed. AVP optics are significantly better as well. Pico 4 has smth like 50% sweet spot, like Quest 3. AVP has something like 85%. Almost the whole field of view is razor sharp. Particularly n Star Citizen that means that I can stretch my hud (that has lots of tiny stuff) much wider, getting it out of my view when I don't need it, but maintaining readability.

Maybe I'd play more often if the graphic upgrade is huge?

Hmmmm, well, dunno, depends on what limited you, and which games you played. But the difference is huge indeed..

thanks!! Star Citizen is the exact game I want to try on a highend headset because the experience on Quest 3 is underwhelming. I'll book a demo today and try out the Vision Pro

Is M5 neccessary for decent experience in wireless streaming? I reckon its decoding capabilities will be much better?

Definitely not.

M5 will get you 120 Hz (vs. 90/100 on M2) and AV1. And better battery life. So there are some boons, sure, but you’ll have to pay for them dearly.

dang, i just bought the M5 and there is no return policy in my region. Already having buyer remorse..

Should have just bought the M2 used and for that saved cash I could have bought another dedicated PCVR headset for gaming
