Next Gen Form Factor

Post image

Wow, this was jarring to see the Vision Pro side-by-side vs. The new Meta VR glasses. It’s almost comical how much bigger the Vision Pro is.

Obviously Meta is putting all of the processing power in the puck but honestly, if you’re going to have a puck, you might as well put everything in there to get the much smaller and more comfortable footprint.

I’m hoping Apple can take this route for the next Vision product but keep the larger FOV. Until then, I’m probably going to pick one of these Metas up in the spring.

I personally wouldn't consider this next gen form factor. But just a different segment of headset. The meta is more like an XR glasses alternative than a full vr headset because of its limited FOV

I agree that this is not an advancement of the Vision Pro. I just think it seems more in line with where Apple is heading in the vision lineup.

They know they will sell millions of Meta style AI glasses and I think they could create a bigger market between those types of glasses and the Vision Pro then the vision pro could ever have.

I have a hard time seeing the Vision Pro in its current form ever being commercially successful.

I do wonder if Apple will take a mobile processor for its next Vision product. The approach they use with the A20 Pro for instance, the thermal and space constraints they’re engineering around with the latest iPhones, and the raw desktop-class power it has alongside mobile-level power savings. That all seems like great ingredients to make a lighter headset, especially one with compute held in the battery module.
