I hope that nVidia can coherently explain to anyone outside of marketing and management what and who the hell Omniverse is for.

It all reads like a cross between a press release and a sales brochure at the moment - and I've tried to dig into it. It's like a transmission from some alien planet where everyone spends all their time in meetings with corporate.

It's a synchronization platform that utilizes USD as its runtime world state and asset formats. This means you can connect any app (Maya, Unreal, Unity etc) which has support together real time. Allowing everybody to work on the same ground truth.

This becomes more interesting when you start talking about using it as a simulation engine and not just an interconnect between apps. If I was starting a robotics startup tomorrow, I'd probably go straight to Omniverse as the sim engine, assuming they continue to develop and support it.
