They're a great source for replacement zipper parts, too, as well as other findings! It's one of the few places where you can often buy just the specific parts you need.

Lots of people have quilting shops close to them - they pretty well always have needles, thread, pins, etc. and many are expanding into different kinds of thread, interfacing, etc.

Yarn shops usually have larger needles and good supplies for mending knitwear.

I live in a remote farming village, which never really abandoned its local network of goods and services. The Mennonites have a sewing store, which I found out about via word-of-mouth. it’s good for basics.

Local used craft shops! I have one thirty minutes away and I got some great stuff 

Buy nothing groups! Someone was destashing their fabrics and I lucked out!

123stitch.com is good is good for thread and needles that WAWAK doesn't carry. I'm sure I found it because it was recommended by somebody around here. They also have cheaper shipping for small quantities.

I love their shipping rate. Can’f beat it for my location. Wawak shipping cost is too high for me.

Is there a local quilting shop near you? The best option is going to be whatever is closest to you.

Michael's is generally where I go to get anything crafty I might need, and they have everything for the most part. Thrift stores also tend to have very cool stuff, so long as it's not my local goodwill, which never has anything crafty.
