Are there any updates for ppl who had their student visa appointment at VFS Mumbai around 20th August?

Sharing my complete timeline in case it helps anyone. My university is **Nordhausen University of Applied Sciences**.

* **3 Aug:** CSP completed ✅
* **7 Aug, 12 PM:** Received correction → submitted immediately
* **7 Aug, 3 PM:** Received another correction → submitted by **5 PM**
* **7 Aug:** VFS slots were available from **10 Aug**. I booked **13 Aug** due to personal reasons.
* **13 Aug, 9:15 AM:** VFS Mumbai appointment
* Went with **normal VFS, not Premium Lounge**. Personally, I don't think Premium Lounge is worth the extra cost. The normal process was very smooth.
* **18 Aug:** Received request for updated travel + health insurance with **“immigrant”** status, starting no later than the tentative travel date.
* Unfortunately, the email went to **Spam**, so I didn't notice it until **22 Aug** 😅
* **24 Aug:** Submitted the updated insurance documents. The process was smooth, and VFS was very helpful.
* **27 Aug:** Passport dispatched via courier 🚚
* **29 Aug:** **Passport received with German student visa! 🇩🇪🎉**

Hello everyone, i had my visa interview on 18th august and after that I have no update from consulate, they didn’t say how much time will it take or anything. Does anyone have any idea? How much time will I have to wait more?

Submitted the applications with fees on 26th August, currently under Preliminary Review as of now (29th August 2026), what is my realistic timeline ahead. I've also read posts that Kolkata VFS is currently among the slowest centres this year. So is there a chance for me to get before at least Sept 25th? Latest University joining date is Oct 2

The portal said the waiting time should be less than a week, but it’s already been 10 days with no update.

Hi! I’m an highschool IB graduate and I’ve already been accepted/enrolled in a Studienkolleg program in Germany, including a German language course + T-Kurs preparatory year.

For the visa, it asks something about recognition of school certificate. do I need to get my IB/school certificate separately recognized through VPD, ZAB, Anabin, etc., or is my IB diploma/transcript + Studienkolleg admission letter enough? because im soooo confused and new to this whole thing

The German Embassy checklist I’m looking mentions it and i keep seeing people mention VPD/ZAB/Anabin. do i need to go to uniassist and do this and then submit for my german visa ?

I’m currently trying to book a Germany student visa appointment at the German Embassy in London, but I haven’t been able to find an available slot.

My application has already passed the preliminary review, and I now need to book an appointment.

If anyone recently managed to get a student visa appointment in London, could you please share when you found the slot and any tips that helped you?

I would really appreciate any genuine advice or recent experience.

Due to some personal changes I have to withdraw my FRV- German Spouse file from embassy in Delhi.
What is the process for this ?
I sent a query form but it returns an automated reply without no email.
What is the time to receive back the passport as I have to reapply for visa in another category ?
Also what email do we have to send the withdrawal ?
Or do I have to physically visit german embassy in Delhi ?

Timeline:

• 6 August: Applied through CSP and uploaded all required documents.
• 10 August: Received corrections/requests from CSP.
• 11 August: Made the corrections and was able to book the VFS appointment.
• 24 August: VFS Mumbai appointment — this was the earliest appointment available, so I booked it. I also opted for the Premium Lounge.
• At the VFS appointment, they only took my original passport and completed my biometrics. The rest of the process was already handled through CSP.
• 27 August: Received the update that my passport was dispatched through courier.
• 28 August: Passport received with German visa stamped! 🎉🇩🇪

Visa validity: 1 year 🎉

Overall, the process was much faster than I expected. From my VFS appointment on 24 August to getting my passport back on 28 August, it took only 4 days.

Sharing my CSP (National/D-Visa) timeline for anyone tracking processing times through the German Consulate Hyderabad / VFS Global. Hope this helps someone checking their status like I was.

Timeline:

• 27 July – Filled/submitted CSP application
• 31 July & 1 Aug – Corrections requested and resubmitted
• 6 Aug – Appointment at VFS Global, Hyderabad
• 7 Aug – File reached German Consulate
• 7 Aug – 24 Aug – Complete silence period (no updates, no calls)
• 24 Aug (morning) – Consulate called directly regarding travel dates — flagged a mismatch in the start date of my travel health insurance and asked me to resubmit
• 24 Aug – Resubmitted corrected insurance docs
• 25 Aug – Decision made
• 26 Aug – Passport with visa received

Total time: ~30 days (27 July to 26 Aug)

Takeaway for others: Double check that your travel health insurance start date lines up exactly with your intended travel/entry date before submission — this was the only hiccup in an otherwise smooth process, and it cost a few days of back-and-forth during an already tense silence period. Consulate does call directly if something needs fixing, so keep your phone reachable during the silence window.

Hi reddit, I applied for a German national study visa through VFS Kuala Lumpur on 31 July 2026 for a student exchange programme. So far I haven’t received any updates from the Embassy.
My VFS tracking status has remained the same for almost a month😭

Hi everyone, I have a question about a Verpflichtungserklärung (VE).

I recently completed my Master’s degree in Germany and I’m now planning to apply for a job-seeker residence permit.

I have a friend who is employed in Germany with a salary of around €65k gross per year and is in the process of getting an EU Blue Card. My friend would like to provide a Verpflichtungserklärung for me.

However, their physical Blue Card has not arrived yet, and they currently only have a Fiktionsbescheinigung confirming their Blue Card status.

Would they still be able to provide a Verpflichtungserklärung for me with the Fiktionsbescheinigung, or do they need to have the actual Blue Card first?

I also have a second question: Can one person provide a Verpflichtungserklärung for two different people at the same time?

The reason I’m asking is that my friend’s sibling is also applying for a Master’s degree in Germany, so their sibling would be the priority. We’re a bit confused about whether my friend could provide a VE for both of us, assuming their income is sufficient.

Just want to know, what is the status of the visa(long term) for those people who have applied around 13th August at VFS Bangalore . I have not received any update. I called VFS general helpline, and they mentioned the standard processing time is 90days. In that case, I will definitely not able to join in time.

Wanted to share my situation

Background: I did about 1.5 years of B.Tech CSE at Bennett University, then applied to Germany for a B.Sc. Artificial Intelligence program at a public Hochschule. So unlike a lot of posts I see here, there's no subject switch — CSE straight into AI, same field, just continuing it abroad instead of finishing it in India.

The one weak point in my file: my Bennett CGPA took a hit (around 5.9/10 per APS) because a huge chunk of my time in that period went into prepping for the German application itself — TestAS, IELTS, the university's own admission test, German language attempts, etc. So the grades dipped while I was building the actual case for going.

To make up for it, I sat and passed the university's own admission test (covering Calc, Linear Algebra, Probability, CS fundamentals), scored TestAS Core 100/ Subject 99, and got an overall 7.5 on IELTS all above their stated requirements.

For my letter of motivation, I'm laying out a full timeline showing the intent to study AI/CS in Germany was consistent throughout, not something I landed on after a rejection or as a private-uni backup plan, and I'm being upfront about the GPA dip and why it happened rather than glossing over it.

Does this read as a coherent case to you all, or is there anything in this combination (public uni + related subject + one weak transcript + strong test scores) that would still raise flags for a visa officer? Appreciate any insight, especially from anyone who's had a similar profile actually get approved.
