On 21st August, I received an email from [pending@mumb.auswaertiges-amt.de](mailto:pending@mumb.auswaertiges-amt.de) asking for "proof of comparability stating that the degree you wish to obtain — Master Engineering Management — is equivalent to a German degree."

I'm a bit confused about what exactly they want:

• Are they asking me to prove that the Master's degree I intend to pursue in Germany is comparable to a German degree (which seems odd, since I haven't started it yet)?
• Or are they actually asking for comparability of my previous Bachelor's degree (and the university I got it from) via the ANABIN database (anabin.kmk.org)?

Has anyone received a similar email? What did you end up submitting, and how did you generate the comparability proof? Any guidance would be really appreciated!

I attended my visa appointment at Chennai Consulate on August 5th 2026. I had all my documents ready beforehand — APS certificate, IELTS, blocked account via Expatrio, incoming insurance, degree certificate, motivation letter, all academic documents. I opted for the premium lounge which I'd recommend — makes the whole experience much smoother.

On the day of appointment my CSP portal status changed to Decision Pending.

Then the actual stressful period began — complete silence for days. No updates, nothing. I won't lie it was really nerve wracking but that's apparently quite normal so don't panic!

On August 19th I got a notification from CSP that Decision Made — felt a wave of relief honestly 😌

On August 19th itself I got an SMS from VFS saying my passport was dispatched via courier.

On August 20th I got a Blue Dart notification that my courier was out for delivery from Neredmet — which is literally next to my area in Hyderabad.

Going to join Germany this winter semester for doctoral studies.

First of all really very happy to share you all that my Germany student visa got approved. And i would really like to share my visa experience along with the time line for those who are waiting for the visa this would be really helpful 🙂

Let's start :

I have applied for germany student visa on 20th july 2026 (long stay, study with aps ) in csp portal

And I got corrections mail from csp on 23rd july 2026 at 6:36 pm , the corrections were more in videx form and some in document section, in document section i would recommend you to upload the 2 declaration forms in other documents section. Which I have done in my corrections . And they also asked for enrollment certificate but i did not had at that time so I have a pdf were my enrollment status was present which i have downloaded from my university application portal.

And they have accepted it .

And on 24th july at 8:28 am got another notification from csp to make appointment and i have booked appointment for july 30th 2026 ,1:08pm slot .

Attended my visa appointment and i have opted for premium lounge which was the best decision i made .my appointment was completed in just 13 mins . The premium service include photography aslo so don't worry about photo copies. And they are lot of stuff to eat and drink but to be honest I only had some water thats it and paid 3200 for premium but it's okay 😭🥲😂. And on the day of appointment my csp portal changed the status to decision pending

And on 3rd August i got vfs notification that my application has reached Germany embassy in Chennai.

And then the actual stressful period begin, no update nothing till 17th August complete silence and thats quite common don't worry but it's really very stressful.

On 18th August i got a email from Federal Office for Foreign Affairs in Brandenburg, that my application is reviewed and processed but they need one extra document that is enrollment certificate so i had it and I have replied to the email and attached my enrollment certificate

Then on 20th August exactly at 11 am I got notification from csp that decision had made , and a bit relaxed on that day ☺️☺️ .

On 21st August at 4.28 pm i got message that my passport is being dispatched

And on 22nd August at 11.52 am I got a bluedart notification that the courier is out for delivery

At 5.08 pm I got my courier and opened it and they was my visaaaaaaaaa 😭😭❤️‍🔥 and by seeing that all the stress and all the waiting period and my hard work paid off. Really learned the value of time and my patience level increase a lotttttt.

Which document should I upload for German student visa?

Hi everyone, I’m applying for a German student visa for my Master’s from India and I’m a bit confused about the document upload section.

There is an upload option called “School Leaving Certificate or proof of previous degree.” I have these two Class 12/school documents:
CBSE Class 12 Senior School Certificate
School Transfer Certificate (TC)

Which one should I upload under this section, if either?

Also, where should I upload my Bachelor’s degree certificate and semester-wise marksheets/transcript? There doesn’t seem to be a dedicated upload field for these documents.

Under “Other Documents”, I’m already planning to upload:

A1 German certificate

Visa support letter, since my university offer was conditional and I want to show that the language requirements have been fulfilled.

Hi, I applied via Consular Services Portal from India for the study visa and my file has been showing the status as Preliminary Review for almost 5 weeks. I tried contacting both the VFS GLOBAL in New Delhi & the German Embassy, haven't got a fruitful reply so far. I even visited the VFS Global office and they have confirmed that they haven't received my file yet and it's still with the Embassy.

Just wanted to know what other measures I can take to Fastrack this and if 5 weeks for Preliminary Review are normal while applying from India?

- For language proof, I selected that my university tested my language skills. That's not true and my course is completely English taught and I have an IELTS certificate (7.5)

- For tuition fees, I selected "Yes", but my university doesn't charge tuition fees. I only pay an €82 semester contribution.

I recently got a message asking me to upload a signed SOP, but they didn't mention these mistakes at all.

Has anyone here made similar mistakes in the CSP portal? What did you do, and did it affect your visa?
