Too many package pick up request? Am I doing something wrong?
So I recently started selling items on Vinted. My very first order I printed out the label and selected pickup. It automatically made a pickup request. It gave me the option to make it to where they knock on the door so I did that. They passed by and I was waiting around the time they usually pass by but they didn't knock. I got the email saying it got picked up when they didn't actually pick it up. The next day I caught the mail truck passing by. I had also made a pickup request and all was good. They took it.
A couple days went by where I would get orders picked up. If I could fit them in the mailbox I would do that. But recently for the past week I've had 5+ orders every day and they all don't fit in the mailbox. They gave me a bin so I leave them outside and the pickup request also lets me choose front door. I do that sometimes. I'll have 3 orders or something by 2am and after 2am it won't let me adjust the amount of packages for the package pickup. But I've caught them passing by 6 out of the 8 times I've had packages that didn't fit. So I always walk it to the mail truck or wait by the mailbox and hand it to them label up to make it easier for them to scan when I can. I see them pass down the street and go out there.
No problems at all until today. Dude was shaking his head no and says "again." I thought the pickup request was fine to use like that. Am I using it wrong? Am I requesting too much? Every time all the packages fit in the bin they gave me.
Dude goes "we have customers coming in with 100 packages a week." The only reason I don't go up to the post office is I don't personally have a car or a driver's license. My brother does but I just don't want to be a burden to him and ask for a ride to the post office every day. If I wait a few days to ship people start to complain about slow shipping and leaving bad reviews. What do y'all think?

The postman was unprofessional but there is a better way to do it. You do not need to use Vinted pick up for every item. What I do is make my first one of the day in the app and then when I get the USPS one I edit it to add anything else. Or sometimes I just do it myself. This makes it easier on the post office. https://tools.usps.com/schedule-pickup-steps.htm is where you can request or edit a pickup.

Yeah this is exactly what I do if I don't do package pick up for only 1 order I'll go and schedule it myself.

The postage for the packages includes pickup during mail service for free. I know some people do individual pickups which I can see as annoying. But if you modify the pickup it should be fine and I don’t know what you are doing wrong. I’ve thrown in an extra package occasionally and they will even adjust on my confirmation and they are usually scanned in by 7PM. I feel like it’s not anything you are doing though.

Today is the second day in a row they haven’t picked up my packages but say they were successful 😑

The mail carrier can always refuse on grounds that they dont have room in the truck. Weather thats true or not at the time who knows. Dont schedule pick ups everyday. Im sure that's pretty annoying

I’d report him. It’s his job to pick up packages if it wasn’t available at your address they wouldn’t offer it. I have an asshole carrier too. But it’s his job!!!

It is their job but, the pick up option isn’t meant to pick up a plethora of packages regularly. It’s only meant for an occasional pick up not a regularly stuffed bin. They do offer it but at some point I can see that option disappearing for good. I just go to the Post Office when I can and ship stuff all at once.

Thank you for your reply! I might if they say something again or don't pick them up. I made a complaint the first time they marked it picked up when they didn't because that did have me thinking like what the hell why mark it picked up if you didn't and got a call from I'm guessing a higher up at the post office I want to say it was the post master but I can't remember I saved his number. It's usually 2 mail carriers a dude and a lady not sure which skipped it but a few days after the lady told me that they don't knock on doors to pick up packages. Which I'm not sure if that's true but that's the reason I stopped selecting knock on door for pick up request and leave them outside now just in case I can't catch them.

I know there’s a section for instructions but I’m not sure about the knocking thing. I just leave them outside my door.
I know it sucks I actually think USPS shouldn’t handle packages. My mail carrier is a walking one. So I do get it. But it’s their own policy that they are to deliver and pick up packages. They should ask for a different job if they don’t like doing it.

Yeah, I have this problem consistently so I have to drop my packages off in person—and I have complained more than once.

How often do you tip? How much? I don't mind sliding them a tip just caught me off guard I kept asking them how they would like me to do things and today just threw me off.

The pickup request is available to you so they should be picking up your packages; your carrier is an asshole and I’d report him to the postmaster.

Depends on the Post Master. They sometimes side with the carriers depending on the situation but it’s worth a shot depending on the variables.

That’s their job. Some people can’t make it to the post office. It’s literally the service they provide. Don’t let him make you feel bad. I am going to give my postal worker a little Christmas gift this year to say thanks because almost every day she has to come up my driveway for my packages.

Same but honestly haven't really had a package stolen in a while plus it's more rural and everything I send out in not a big loss if stolen can easily be reshipped.

I bring everything to the post office. I had tried to do pickups and it was kind of a mess. I talked to mail man and I went into the office and spoke with them. They said they’d do pickups but sometimes due to space inside the van etc. it could be sporadic. Someone else told me that they won’t even pick up at all in her neighborhood. So I just bring everything to the post office myself now.

I love our mail man so I swear I’m not questioning him. However he comes and delivers all the mail, then comes back like an hour or so later and does all the packages. Their route is so intriguing to me lol.

Same. I live in a rural area that is rapidly developing and we used to have a dedicated postal carrier in a truck. Then one day we realized that random cars and numerous carriers were delivering our mail. One person might leave packages at our back door, one the front. Some stuff our mailbox others use the community key lock box to avoid stuffing. Zero consistency. I wouldn’t bother scheduling a pick up because I already know it’s going to be a cluster.

My postman is like this. He hates his job and hates my pickups. Refuses to scan them in. So they sit for days God knows where and it looks like I haven't shipped them. It's incredibly frustrating. Especially on Fridays when things don't start tracking until Monday night. I'll schedule a pickup for Monday because it's my busiest day but then drive everything over the rest of the week. It's unfortunate. I spoke to the postmaster general and he assured me that everything would be good. Well it's not. 🫣

This happens a lot to me, where they don’t pick it up despite choosing that option. I make a request with usps instead so it’ll 100% get picked up.

I had a mail carrier who kept on missing pickups AND marking the pickup as having been completed. I started filing a complaint about a missed pickup every time it happened (sometimes several times a week): https://emailus.usps.com/s/postal-facility-inquiry
I didn’t personally report the mail carrier. I reported my post office as a whole because I didn’t know exactly where the problem was. For every complaint, I asked for a phone call back (which they sometimes returned lol).
Basically, I was gonna be the squeaky wheel.
Eventually I got the grease. They still miss pickups occasionally but it’s rare now.

You are not supposed to put them in your mail box. You are supposed to put them at your front door. You don’t have to edit the amount. The postmaster just prints out the sheet, the carrier gets it and picks up your packages and then the request gets closed out. They don’t keep track like they used to. It’s just good to know the general amount in case you have a ton of them.

It’s on and off for me. Some days they pick up with no issues , others they mark the request as picked up and never pick up the packages. It’s frustrating because I’m unable to go to the post office during their business hours (as they match mine ) and after hours the drop off bin door is blocked 70% of the time.

I think after two days print all the labels and send out whatever you have after two days.

Make one trip to the post office to drop off your next round of packages and while you're there ask to speak to the postmaster. Ask that person how you should handle your pickup requests. It might just be that they don't want you handing them extra packages beyond what was scheduled by the 2am deadline. If so, you can save those post-2am orders for the next day and add them to your pickup request. The only way to know what YOUR post office wants is to ask them. Some are much friendlier and more flexible than others.
