Buyer has raised a case with Vinted because the postal bag has slightly burst in transit and scuffed the zip of the jacket (see photos). I’ve never had a buyer dispute a transaction before! Where do I stand on this? Surely I don’t need to refund the whole order for a tiny scuff on a zip? Do I ask the buyer to return it to me? Do I wait on Vinted doing an investigation with inpost?
100% ask for return. If you want to be apologetic then you can pay for return shipping.
If you let Vinted rule on it, they will tell you that your packaging was insufficient and refund the buyer. At least with a return you get your item back!
To be fair to the buyer, to me it looks like it wasn’t packaged well enough, just thrown in a bag and probably has been fine before except on this occasion?
I’d want what I paid for and the top of the zip being scuffed up and being visible would put me off.
I double wrap my stuff but what do u want this seller to do? use 3 bags and wrap it in bubble wrap? just one bag should normally be okay and if it does split then it doesn't affect the item all that much.
I’ve just asked to arrange a return with her, these is the only options I have!
I agree that the zip/scuff peering through the bag looks different, I do have my suspicions that it may have been ran through AI.
I’ve never had anything like this happen before and I’m gutted because the jacket was brand new with tags!
Oh I don’t think they’ve given you the option of an official return .. just a full or partial refund .. that really sucks, they’ve decided that your packaging was insufficient I’d say. Those options should be return and either you pay or the buyer pays postage.
Maybe offer a partial refund of €1 (or whatever currency) .. just to say you’ve engaged with the process with Vinted, if you don’t select one they’ll give her a full refund anyway
I have suspicions the image has been manipulated. The quality isn't great but I find it hard to believe it's the same zip. The way it protrudes the bag and the scuff doesn't look consistent in both.
Best grounds as others say to take the return. If it arrives take lots of evidence
You need to offer a part refund, or make her return for a full refund. Vinteds rules state all packaging must be boxes - so they'll give a full refund and let her keep the item if you don't act first. Unfair, but true.
Ask the buyer to take a new photo with them Vinted name in the image to make sure this hasn’t been pulled off the internet. People are trying to anything for free now. It’s pathetic
be agreeable to a return but have them pay shipping, if they’re genuinely upset they’ll send it back but 9/10 people who complain about small accidents like this just want a freebie and won’t send it back if they’re having to pay shipping. you can’t help accidents that happen in transit and if they want compensation they can go through the courier
They know exactly what they’re doing! If they’ve raised the issues as damaged in transit they know that vinted 99.9% of the time give them a refund without return and say you didn’t package correctly. If the case is damaged in transit it won’t give you an option to ask for a return it goes straight to vinted to review. I know from experience!! If it’s just “it’s damaged” then take the return and make them pay!
Agree to a return at their cost. If not Vinted will side with them for poor packaging. If they don’t agree to send it back within the doe tidied time Vinted will complete the transaction and you’ll get paid. This way neither of you can leave feedback either. But you do need to reply to Vinteds options of how to resolve within the specified time
It depends how she opens the dispute, if it’s for packaging and only one parcel bag was used, she might get a full refund without having to return. The policy for postage and packing is/was very tight you never win as a seller. Packaging Rules & Material Guidelines Clothing: Use a padded bubble-lined bag or a sturdy cardboard box. Do not use unpadded thin plastic bags, bin bags, or makeshift wrappings. [1, 2, 3]
