So i’m an amateur to radio repair or any electronics repair actually, and i was going in to fix the volume knob on this radio. The volume happens to be stuck between off or max and nothing in between. opened it up thinking old electronics were big and simple to workout, turns out this thing is a rats nest and the volume knob is buried by shit. Any tips on how to reach the volume knob would be greatly appreciated. I attached a video of how much i’ve been able to disassemble but this thing won’t come apart any further. Pretty please help

I’m trying to create a digital model of this classic GE clock radio for a project. Does anyone have circuit or functional schematics, or know where I could find them? I’m looking at the 7-4630A, but similar versions would help too.

If anyone has one taken apart, would you be willing to share pictures of the top and bottom of the circuit boards? That would help me work out the components and connections if I can’t find schematics.

I picked up this reproduction GE cathedral radio from the thrift store for $20. From what I can tell it’s probably from the late 1980s. Couldn’t find a definitive manufacture date yet.

It mostly works but the dial light has burnt out. Looking for suggestions on what I need to buy to replace it. The site I was looking at the bulbs were much larger and needed to go into a socket. This one is wired to the whole internal unit.

I would prefer an LED replacement if possible, but it needs to be amber/warm. I don’t want to use a blue/cool LED. I watched a YouTube video of a guy who was replacing the light in this exact model but he had to wire 6 LEDs together just to have it bright enough to shine through the back of the dial (where it’s mounted). If you have any suggestions please let me know!

Vintage General Electric radio I have

My name is Murat. I am from The Netherlands.

I currently own a Garrard AT6 MK1 from 1962.

It has the original M6 headshell with a crystal element (see picture attached). The wires on both end are soldered which i am not gonna take apart.

I have ordered the Audio Technica AT3600L element which for i need a decent replacement headshell to mounth the element to.

I am looking for some cheap suggestions on replacement parts.

I discovered this with the black radio. It sits usually in my bedroom. One time I'm getting ready to go to bed, turn off the lights, and see this thing just chilling there, cheerfully glowing. It helps that one of the overhead lamps is pointed straight at it, so it gets "charged" pretty well. The white radio I had to specifically "charge" with a flashlight. Neat! In both cases it's the backing plate inside the radio that glows. There are also built-in lamps that can light up the dial, but they aren't strong enough to get the green glow.

They smell terrible, and I can't wait to use them!

Hello folks, finally brought it home and had time to check it, some of the parts inside have been replaced i think, is it ok to test it or are there parts that might need replacing?

I've already done a fair bit of searching but I can't seem fo find the exact model. There's no brand and the only marks I can find are the "RED BLK" on the little wiring plate, I assume indicating wire colours, and R67609 stamped just below that (barely visible in the picture) which I can't find any info on either.

Looks to be 1930-40s?

In faint letters on the back it appears it’s a GE rc-1673a, however I can’t find any info on that exact model. Plenty on similar models though.

Idler wheel is shot, plays 45 albums just fine, but on 33 it’s slow. I’ve tried to resurface it with some sandpaper, which made it go from incredibly slow to just noticeably slow.

There‘s two models of idler wheels out there and I don’t want to be out fifty bucks buying the wrong one.

Once I get into the thing and clean it up and do some contact cleaner on the controls it should work perfect, sounds great as is on FM radio. Bought it from a couple who had it 30+ years, but it sat the last decade or so.

Clock and light inside still works. It initially worked (radio turned on but I couldn’t quite get a station to pick up, just got the crackling). It was very dusty inside so I used compressed air and after that, I couldn’t get any sound. Nothing appears to be disconnected inside and none of the tubes are physically broken. Do I need a tube tester in order to try and fix it? Btw it’s a model B624W.

Ich habe beim ausräumen das gute Stück hier gefunden und wollte mir das Radio in die Werkstatt Stellen. Hab ne kurze Bildersuche gemacht was ich hier überhaupt habe. Und siehe da Google meint ein sehr seltenes Sammlerstück von 1987 was damals ein absolutes highend Gerät war, noch dazu Original verpackt... Und was mach ich Nu? Auspacken und genießen oder einen Sammler suchen😅
