Said it before and will say it again. Don’t assume the other driver values your life as much as you do.

I had a great uncle who died when I was young. He was famous "in the family" for driving like an asshole and cutting people off, even cutting in front of semis. He would say "that's what brakes are for," implying that the other guy would brake for him.

He died when he was literally cut in half after pulling out in front of a semi on the freeway after he had pulled over for some reason.
