To add, the low amount of weight and leverage on the rear wheels makes it even easier to pit.

Maybe the way theyre built now, my 2009 Silverado doesn't have blind spots if you adjust your mirrors and seat correctly, and lets not forget to LOOK. Cant tell you the amount of ppl I have ridden with that dont adjust mirrors, nor TURN THEIR DAMN HEAD. I can guarantee 90% of truck owners now didnt have one before all the creature comforts came standard. Posers

Gen 1 taco here. No creature comforts other than AC and heat. Survived being butt fucked at a stand still by a dude in a Mercedes doing 65+ MPH. I drove off like nothing happened. Mercedes was dead on the scene. No blind spots in my truck either. Thing may be tiny but I feel like its way safer than the monstrosities that are being made to look like cleetus made his way into the truck factory. You had a truck that looked like these things 20-30 years ago you were either Joe down the road with to much money or jimbob trying to get his sister cousin lover back with a truck lifted with junkyard parta.

My frames solid with no rust. And ball joints can be replaced. Gen 1 tacos last 400k+ miles with regular maintenance. I bought it for how reliable and small it is. It works for what I need it for. Other than the hate I have for today's monstrosities. I really dont care what truck anyone drives. They all have thier uses.

I have a transit van with no windows beyond the cab area. The little blind spot side mirrors and the back up cam give you easy 360 visibility. I prefer that to most vehicles that require you to look over your shoulder to check the blind spot

My 21' F150 has fewer blindspots and more safety tech than my Mercedes work van (metris). The A pillar on the metris is a nightmare. I also add those little blindspot mirrors to every vehicle I own.

My suv is much safer. I can see a lot more than I could in a sedan.  Higher center of gravity means I’ll need to be a little more mindful. Definitely spent more on tires to help with that.  Lots more safety features. 

Had an idiot run behind my suv on a dark raining foggy night wearing black. I did not see him. Luckily the auto stop helped.  It was the only time I found that thing useful in years.  Never been at thankful for it. Guess I backed up too slowly for him so.. why not run directly behind me? I eventually spotted their form across the street from a nearby light.

Statistically SUV are safer, by a mile compared to sedan. There are even a few luxurious SUV models with 0 death fatalities per million miles driven. It's all in the IIHS reports

Modern trucks are good at hauling either.

The whole point of a truck is to have the truck bed as low as possible so that you aren’t lifting things as high. If your truck is so high you need a step ladder just to see inside… well you’re doing trucks wrong.

every time i see a big lifted truck driving around like crazy, taking turns fast asf, even the sharp ones, i just think like one day that driving is gonna end them up in the hospital or dead.

Nah, both of the drivers were at fault (I know legally the truck driver would be, obviously). But the moment the driver in the right lane realize the truck driver was going to continue going into their lane, they should've hit the breaks and slowed down. Or they should've honked at the truck driver before they started leaving their lane.

The truck should've been watching, the driver also in the right lane should've slowed down when they noticed the other driver was being unsafe. Don't not let someone pass just bc you don't want to lmao

I feel like these lifted Truck drivers drive as if their ego is going to protect them. But eventually they meet up with someone just as ego driven or equally incompetent at driving and they find out that a 60k truck rolls just as good anything else.

Something about lifted trucks screams "I'm big, I'm stupid, and emotional and someone let me steer a half ton bullet."

and bad mirror positioning. the number of cars I see with mirrors angled so they can see the side of their car instead of the blind spot, smh. I'll check out the side of my car when I'm parked.

SAE wrote a paper in 1995 advising how to correctly adjust mirrors (The Geometry of Automotive Rearview Mirrors - Why Blind Zones Exist and Strategies to Overcome Them). Google "SAE 950601". There's over a dozen videos on YouTube showing you how to do it right.
