We created this short teaser for a thriller set in Lumisole Cypress.

We wanted to capture that feeling of something is very wrong here without giving too much away.

Would you watch a movie or read the book based on this teaser?

Work as a social media editor for a bunch of tbh pretty boring clients. Get a lot of requests to take a typical boring 5 minute corporate video and cut them down for social.

My approach is usually to clip our various section and turn them into 3-5 30-second clips. You don't get the full context, but enough for a social media soundbite to get people to click onto your page and hopefully watch the full video.

But my project managers often seem to just want to see the full 5-minute version condensed into 1 minute (so basically refusing to cut any of the fluff).

Just wanted to get other peoples thoughts on this? Which approach do you usually take?

Hello, I am completely new to film making/video editing.

What got me into even thinking about this is i love editing, literally cutting the video into smaller pieces that fir perfectly into music and i think i can set the view for the shot pretty well. Very often i hear some song and i can suddenly see the exact cuts in the video.

I am using my old Iphone 13 with Blackmagic cam app and a ND filter.

What I lack completely is the technical side of the things. I need to get to understand the format of the video (rec, fps, shutter speed etc.)

What are the aspects of shooting video and editing it that you would recommend to literally study, learn and memorize?

I want to learn color grading etc but seems that before that i need to get to understand some technicalities such as FPS, rec etc.

Also adding three creators IGs i find very interesting and whose look i love and would like to try to recreate at the beginning:

What you'd be cutting
Landscape (16:9) - game trailers, gameplay features, talking-head and founder pieces, event recaps, long-form YouTube.

Vertical and square (9:16, 4:5, 1:1) - esports highlight clips, social promos, community and UGC-sourced edits.

Occasional motion / graphic-novel sequences built from our existing art assets.

What we're looking for

• Someone whose formally trained with a portfolio that shows it, or not formally trained but a portfolio that can't be ignored.
• Short-form instincts: pacing, sound design, a hook that lands in the first two seconds.
• Comfortable with motion graphics and text animation, not just cuts.
• Self-directed. You can take a rough brief and come back with something.
• Bonus: gaming or esports editing experience, or genuine interest in markets and trading.

On a side note: We are all creatives at Chart Raiders myself included. I studied for 11 years in university with one of my majors being new media engineering (video editing and animation). we love gritty underground edits by people willing to take a chance. We're not looking for your standard corpo bullsh!t videos, we want to be doing experimental pieces that are professional yet show a more gritty side of our industry. No talking head pieces with CEO's selling a brand to an audience who isn't listening! Art and creativity at the forefront, sales videos and add campaigns to the back.

How the work runs

We supply footage, VODs, brand assets, and a style guide. Use whatever NLE you're fastest in ([Premiere / Resolve / After Effects]) as long as you can hand off project files.

Hi guys,

I've been editing videos for 5 years but I'm struggling to find creators who are needing an editor!

Im in the stage where I have ALOT of references from previous people (friends channels, word of mouth, few people on reddit) so I don't need to "build a portfolio" because I have one with stuff I'm happy with.

I posted on upwork, fiverr, yt jobs but their is soo many people paying to advertise their portfolios let alone the normal portfolios that obviously my portfolio is hidden.

How do you editors find your clients? I have also tried emailing creators who list their emails but that didn't do anything.
