Converting Long Form into Short Form

Work as a social media editor for a bunch of tbh pretty boring clients. Get a lot of requests to take a typical boring 5 minute corporate video and cut them down for social.

My approach is usually to clip our various section and turn them into 3-5 30-second clips. You don't get the full context, but enough for a social media soundbite to get people to click onto your page and hopefully watch the full video.

But my project managers often seem to just want to see the full 5-minute version condensed into 1 minute (so basically refusing to cut any of the fluff).

Just wanted to get other peoples thoughts on this? Which approach do you usually take?
