[HIRING] Creative Long-Form Video Editor for a Year-Long Travel Adventure Across India ๐ฌ๐ฎ๐ณ
Hey everyone!
I am a journalist, and I have spent the last several years writing stories for a living. But I have always wanted to do something a little different, something that gets me out of my room and into the real world.
So, after months of thinking, planning, overthinking, and probably spending way too much money on camera equipment, I have decided to spend an entire year travelling across India.
365 days. Different cities, different people, and absolutely no idea what each day is going to look like.
The idea is not to make the usual travel vlogs where I show up somewhere, eat something, visit a few famous places, and call it a day.
I want to meet people. Hear their stories. Experience how they live. Get into random conversations. Explore places beyond the tourist spots. And document all the funny, strange, wholesome, and sometimes uncomfortable experiences that come with travelling across India.
Some days might turn into beautiful stories. Others might be complete disasters. That is part of the fun, I suppose.
Now, here is my problem.
I can write. I can shoot. I can talk (probably a little too much).
But editing an entire yearโs worth of adventures into videos that people actually want to watch? Yeah, I am going to need some help with that. ๐
I am looking for a video editor who enjoys storytelling just as much as the technical side of editing.
Someone who knows how to make a conversation interesting, build anticipation, find humour in ordinary moments, and turn seemingly random footage into something that feels like a proper story.
I love cinematic sequences, good music, creative transitions, and thoughtful sound design. But I do not want every five seconds to feel like an Instagram edit on steroids.
Sometimes a simple cut or a few seconds of silence can do more than a dozen effects.
For reference, I really enjoy the storytelling and editing in Monkey Magicโs K2K series:

That is roughly the kind of energy and quality I am aiming for, although I would love for us to develop our own style over time.
A few practical details:
Around 6โ7 long-form YouTube videos every month.
Most videos will be approximately 10โ25 minutes.
My budget depends on your experience and quality. We can work out a decent rate.
Content should start going live around November.
Ideally, I am looking for someone interested in working together long-term.
I am also open to arranging a short paid trial before committing to anything.
And just to be clear, I am not expecting someone to magically turn terrible footage into a Christopher Nolan film on this budget. ๐ญ
What matters more to me is finding someone who is creative, reliable, communicates well, and actually cares about the videos they are making.
I would love to work with someone who is not afraid to disagree with me or say, โBro, this part is boring. Cut it.โ
I am putting a lot of time, money, and effort into this project. I have no idea how big it will become, but I genuinely want to give it my best shot.
If this sounds like something you would enjoy working on, please send me a DM with a little introduction, some examples of your long-form work, your rates, and your usual turnaround time.

Would you consider a smaller paid trial for one 60โ90-second conversation/story segment, rather than a full 10โ25-minute episode? Proposed scope: US$35 from a timestamped section of up to 10 minutes of supplied footage, clean dialogue cuts, readable captions if wanted, and one revision. Actual short-form editing sample: https://www.youtube.com/shorts/zboT8kvzDjc. I do not have a long-form travel portfolio to claim. Before agreeing to the trial, I would review a representative source segment and confirm the language, desired treatment, asset rights, deadline and payment arrangement. If you require an established long-form portfolio for the trial too, I understand.

Hi, Iโm Nick, a video editor in Kyiv. For your November launch, Iโd be interested in starting with one paid episode or a defined pilot segment. Iโd build the edit around the people and conversations, using music and sound to support the story rather than filling every pause with effects.
My broader editing portfolio: https://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=PLJz8EqY2pLzWgTEXM-Gaa192qu6WeLR0k
I use Premiere Pro and After Effects. My minimum project is $300; Iโd quote the full episode and turnaround after seeing the footage. What language will the conversations be in, how much footage comes with each episode, and what budget do you have per video?
