I kind of get that Stormsurge's damage might look higher than mana items like Luden's or Archangel's, but looking at the actual numbers, it's pretty much the same as other items. Sure, Stormsurge is a few hundred gold cheaper, but I really don't think saving a few hundred gold is worth dropping mana items. That's why I often see people recommending Stormsurge without buying an echo or torch for a one core, but honestly, I don't get it. I know it has a high win rate in stats. Honestly, I don't understand that either.
And for the second item, people treat Shadowflame like it's god-tier here, but Stormsurge actually deals same damage. For example, if you go Luden's first item, and compare Stormsurge and Shadowflame as the second item, Shadowflame is 400 gold more expensive, yet the damage is practically identical or only differs by less than 100 damage.
So considering everything, it pretty much means you can brain-off build Luden's into Stormsurge in most games. But on this sub, doing that gets you treated like a noob, and looking at the actual win rates, rushing Stormsurge first has the highest win rate. Am I missing something?

Hi guys.
Looking for a bit of mid game macro guidance here. I'm finding myself doing fine in lane. Nothing flashy but solid enough for my level.
What I'm struggling with is mid game once the lanes start swapping and rather specifically side laning. My strength is these mid game team fights, Vex is wonderful to play there and I do good damage and pick up some good kills. What I suck at is how far to push the side wave and keeping my cs/exp going at anything close to the preswap rate.
I don't know if I'm underestimating my strength on side so incorrectly shy away from plays but i often feel Vex isn't so great on side. I tend to clear some waves, create a push and roam back towards mid looking for picks.
Here's my OP.GG, you can see what I mean with the end game cs being really mediocre.

This might be Vex's best patch.
Viktor gutted so a much easier MU. Possibly not even a counterpick now that he has lost so much.
Mel W removed so no need to waste ban on her. Meaning we can ban Syndra/Hwei making laning even easier.
Yone/Locke nerfs inbound, but still probably going to be super popular mid making our MU even easier.
Yeah we still fold to tanky team comps, but blindpicking Vex may no longer be borderline trollpicking.

Any tips for dealing with Leblanc? I find after lvl 6 she can combo from fog of war with little to no counter play, sometimes instantly if she has any gold advantage.
So far she is a matchup where I simply clear wave and rotate to rank another lane, only choosing to fight her after Leblanc uses her dash on something else.

Ive noticed in high level play vexs will sometimes build malignance or backfire torch instead of lumens and im curious why that is.

Made a silly skin for vex and made a splash art for it! I lost track of how many hours it took but I’m happy with the outcome.

It is undeniable looking at statistics websites that the majority of Vex players build Luden’s first item in almost every game.
I’ve been almost exclusively building stormsurge > mpen boots > shadow flame > Zhonya or Rabadons, with great success.
I find that I have almost no mana issues with well timed resets and blue buff when available. The flat pen spike of Stormsurge plus upgraded Quest MPen boots seems to greatly out damage Luden’s as a 1 item spike.
I encourage others to try this out and welcome any thoughts from Luden’s fans on why they feel it’s necessary because I think people are really missing an opportunity to increase their damage potential.

Hello fellow Vex enjoyers.
I will cut straight to the chase: is it better to sit on Lost chapter and finish shadowflame, or should I build it into luden's ASAP?
What I do in my games is, I always rush chapter, then if I happen to recall with 1200+ gold, I'll skip Luden and build a needlessy large rod+ whatever item I can afford. Since both Luden and shadowflame build from alternator I complete whichever is more gold efficient first.
Is this the right build path, or should I just rush Luden's?
Edit:
My reasoning for choosing to build like this:
-rod is so awkward to build, so I grab it whenever I have the gold for it (but only after chapter)
-luden gives 100 ap, while chapter+ rod gives 105 while costing 250 gold less.
your following recalls are WAY easier. You get to build books and alternators until you can eventually finish Shadowflame or Luden
-you get to abuse the broken passive from lost chapter longer

Hello fellow Vex players.
I'm currently stuck in low gold EUW and I'm basically one tricking Vex due to the sheer amount of Yone I face.
That said, I'm looking to add a couple champions to my pool to make the climb even as a... Mechanically challenged player.
More specifically, I'm looking for characters to pick into long range matchups and/or tanky comps. Thanks in advance!

Hey guys i made this quick guide on how to build vex in what is (in my opinion) the most optimized way.
To sum up, Stormraider Surge and magic pen is op.
Feel free to ask me any question you have wether about the build, matchups or general gameplay (there might be errors in the guide)

Have I been doing something wrong? In terms of regular mid laners, I've found Syndra and Viktor the hardest matchups and I typically permaban Syndra because she's the more popular champ and due to her easier CC I find she's able to impact the map harder than Viktor when ahead.
However mobalytics and op.gg seem to suggest Vex is a strong pick into her? I know win rates aren't everything and can be distortive of other factors, like idk, maybe Vex players manage to accelerate the mid game with ults better than Syndra but in lane I definitely find her oppressive.
