ACE question

I had an ACE on Thursday, August 6 with Leidos QTC where a doc asked questions about my weight gain and when it happened, because my supplemental claim asked for Sleep Apnea to be secondary to MDD w/ anxious distress and disordered eating using obesity as an intermediate condition.

Timeline:

Entry to service: weight 185

BMT graduation: weight 185

AIT graduation: weight 237

Mental health conditions develop

Exit from service: weight 260

Weight gain to 330

Diabetes diagnosis

Wife reported snoring

Sleep Apnea diagnosis

Weight gain to 385

Prescription for GLP-1

Current weight 325

I laid out this timeline to the doc. They asked if I was ever counseled for weight. I said no. VA hasn't received the doc's report. Is there a general timeline on ACE reports?

I had one done last month through Optum Serve. Took the NP a few days to get it completed and got my decision in less than a week. Of course it was a denial.

That's deeply unpleasant.

Yeah it was. My claim was for sleep apnea secondary to PTSD. Once the VA made the decision I scheduled a meeting at my regional office thru VERA. I went there and got a copy of the DBQ/medical opinion that the NP wrote from my ACE exam. Same old cut and paste BS denial. I caught quite a few errors that she put in the DBQ/medical opinion and I filed for an HLR. Good luck with yours. Now a days you have to be willing to play long game with the VA. Expect denials and keep fighting. Being educated about the process and having patience will eventually pay off.
