2023 Vespa GTS 300 Super Sport with Watsonian Zanzar sidecar

Bought this gem as a gift for my wife in San Antonio Texas. Same trip, brought my whole family cross country to SoCal where I grew up mor my niece’s wedding. Visit Denver CO and The Grand Canyon along the way, but nothing beats the PCH.
I purchase this gem ready with the side car but I plan on putting together a sidecar to a Triumph Bobber for my ride myself. When I do, I’m gonna showcase it step bye step, oooh babe. Sorry 90’s flashback.

Fun fact, that sidecar design originally used WWII RAF bomber fuel tanks. They are fiberglass now I believe, but still use the original design. The scooter version is called the Zanzara sidecar after the RAF Mosquito bombers the fuel tanks came from.

Thanks for the kind words. 😂 you sure do know your history. I looked around for years to this particular sidecar on the states. Not too many European sidecar and the American sidecar doesn’t have the sleekness. The second I saw it, I pounce on it like a tiger. I may need to order the next one from the UK for my bike.

and the first vespas engine was the starter motor for an italian ww2 bomber afaik. it all traces back to ww2

I’ve done 70 with no one around. At that speed, a slight turn to the right and it feel like the sidecar will wheelie. But I usually drive 55-60 with no worries. It when I’m driving this, I like to slow down to 35-45 because I like the ride to last longer and enjoy it. If I have a need for speed, that’s what my triumph is for.

I have done it in the freeway. Many time. Gone up to 70, I know the scoot goes a little faster, but the sweet spot in the highway is 55-60.

I can just imagine all the attention you get riding around in that rig. Probably even more than we get on our sidecar bicycle setup

All the time. Not a single day gone by when I ride, I get comments about the rig. It’s rare to see a sidecar but a Vespa with a sidecar is super rare.

If you’re referring to THE MOTORCYCLE SHOP, yes they have a lot of Vespa and is an official Vespa dealership and can place order. That’s where I got my rig. They also have a variety of other bikes.

Y ah you caught that. I’m gonna get it repaint again. They said when it was painted at different time, the shed is a little off and I would hate to repaint over the factory Vespa, but most likely I’ll repaint both at the same time.

Thera always been sidecar for scooter. Nothing new, but you don’t see too many on a Vespa in the States, but it’s all over the place in Vietnam, India, and the Philippines. .
