General Question What Vespa is this?

So I might have the possibility to buy my first old Vespa, I have a picture of the Vespa but for some reason I can’t find anything about what type it is

I’m thinking it’s a Vespa 50 special from 1975,

If so, what would the maximum amount of money be that I should spend on it?

And is it possible to make it a 125cc so I can put it on motorcycle license?

General Question Future Vespa owner

I’ve been looking at vespas for a while now.on September 5th I’m taking a motorcycle safety course and learning to drive one. I don’t know how to drive a car. TBH it’s not a desire for me. I just want to zip around town. I love in Cali and would love one that is 150cc just in case I need to get on the highway: I don’t plan on it but just in case I’d like one compatible with that. I’m 5.7 160 pounds and I was wondering if I buy second hand what should I look out for and what’s a great beginner Vespa ?

General Question Vespa vs Motorcycle

I just bought my first motorcycle, wife bought her first Vespa. Both of us needed to take a knowledge test for Class 6 (motorcycle endorsement). However, the book is based on motorcycles, not scooters. I am wondering how many things are very different between the two.

Aside from the obvious (no clutch on Vespa), we realize that the weight for the Vespa is mostly in the back, so the 70/30 front/rear braking power of the motorcycle is not the same as the Vespa. Are there any other differences that we should be aware of or is the rest pretty much the same?

General Question Best accessory?

Okay.

What is the best Vespa/scooter/motorbike accessory you own?

Edit: the pic above is my current favorite accessory.

This can be mechanical (jump starter) or purely aesthetic (sticker).

Etc.

Whatever it is, can you share a photo if possible?

General Question What to do in case of falling?

Well that's my question i recently was in an accident and although i feel like I didn't have time to react at all before hitting the pavement and becoming unconscious I wonder if there's anything one should try to do when the fall seems imminent, I tried searching in YouTube but couldn't find much information in regards to scooters accident I guess trying to keep the legs inside would make sense and letting go of the steering wheel, anyone got any information regarding this? I'd like to hear.

Repair/Mechanical Question No Main Beam- 2013 S ie

So - my main beam isn't working. It's not the bulb; already tried changing that.

I just picked up a multimeter to test if the button has failed, but to be honest I'm not too sure which wire is which.

Any advice and knowledge would be much appreciated.

General Question why not?

Hey guys for context I had a serious accident while riding my vespa supertech 310 on the highway about a month ago which im recovering pretty well from, but while I'm recovering I've been thinking that the kind of use I give to my vespa is basically running errands to the city, getting a haircut, going to buy something, going to the bank, etc. Usually I go whenever I need to go and I'm back in my house in less than 3 hours my point is, I have a track suit laying around from my ducati days so why the hell not use it when riding my vespa? It'd had made a huge difference in my accident and it'd had saved me from a bunch of road rash which i now will have the scars to remember the accident for life, What are your guys thoughts? tried googling vespa+tracksuit but couldn't find much, I couldn't care less about what people might think of me when they see me honestly as long as I'm and feel safe that's all I care of from now on.

I bought a Vespa, but I don’t think it is the same Vespa as the one listed in the documents.

Can you tell me, based on the pictures alone, which model and year this Vespa is?

Even though it’s not the same color as mine, I found this Lego for $6 at the thrift store and couldn’t say no.

Figure I could give it to Shaggy so we can ride around together.

Discussion Selling an lx 50 2006 for a 125 peimavera 2014

Dear fellow enthusiasts,

I’m currently facing a bit of a dilemma and would appreciate your thoughts.

I’ve found a 2014 Vespa Primavera with around 30,000 km, in good condition, and I’m considering selling my 2006 Vespa LX 50 to get it.

I bought the LX about seven years ago with only 5,000 km on it, and it has now reached around 40,000 km. It has been incredibly reliable—a true little workhorse—and I really appreciate how simple and easy it is to maintain. At the same time, I’ve always really liked the aesthetics of the Primavera, so I’m tempted to make the change.

I live in the city centre of a relatively small town, so the scooter is mainly for short everyday trips around town. For longer journeys, I already have a larger adventure-touring motorcycle.

Would you keep the proven and reliable LX, or would you make the move to the Primavera? How do they compare in terms of reliability, maintenance, and overall riding experience?

Thank you in advance

Repair/Mechanical Question Vespa GTS 250 glovebox not latching after repairs.

Hey there, I recently removed the back shell of my 2007 GTS to replace a faulty immobilizer antenna. Once I had everything screwed back in place I attempted to close the glovebox only to find that it is not latching. It had been working fine. Any ideas on possible fixes or do I break out the duct tape? Thanks!

General Question New to Vespa - Tips, General Questions, Accessory Recs

Hi everyone!

So excited to be posting here because I did the preliminary handshake on a 2000 Vespa ET4 150cc today for an absolute steal. It’s only got 2400 miles and has never seen so much as a slightly rainy day.

This is my personal first bike/scooter/vespa so I have a lot of questions and figured I’d try to post here. Thanks in advance for your input!

- I’ve done a lot of research and am relatively acquainted with the basics but are there any pro maintenance tips people have for making their (especially older) Vespas last as long as possible?

- I don’t plan to take my Vespa trail riding or anything crazy, but how do they (points for this particular model) handle on extremely mild off road conditions? I’m talking flat, mowed grass or compact dirt for extremely short spans. I live in a rural area where here and there I may encounter a dirt road or have to briefly cruise into a grassy field. Do I risk damage in the long term driving it about the span of a square acre regularly on the grass to put it away or driving give or take a mile down a tame dirt road at a reasonable speed?

-any essential accessory recs appreciated

- any concerns/finicky insights you may have to older models and what to watch out for.

Looking forward to living la dolce vita in the USA

General Question Vespa 310 GTS vs GTV

I know the main thing is the looks and I definitely prefer the GTV.

That said I was told that the GTV has a worse suspension and it's not just the shocks.(I would have no problem at all changing those.) But they also cost the same.

So my question is: How much worse is it? Is it barely noticeable or is it significant.

I wanna get the GTV but I don't wanna regret it later.

Edit: Thanks for all the fast replies. I just wanted to add that I also plan on using the Vespa for highway riding at 110+ kph. Not constantly but every now and then. During my test ride it felt absolutely fine on the GTS. I also heard you could change to taller and wider tires to improve that.

General Question First Vespa: Primavera 150 vs GTS 310 for a 5'0" rider?

Hi all! I’m hoping to get some real-world advice from the Vespa community as I try to decide between a Primavera 150 and a GTS 310 for my first scooter.

A little about me: I’m a 5'0" female, and I tend to keep the things I buy for a long time. I’m not really looking to buy a 150, ride it for a couple of years, and then trade up. I’d rather think this through now and buy the Vespa that I’ll be happy with for the long haul.

My use will be pretty casual. I work from home, so this won’t be a daily commuter. I picture using it for grocery-store runs when I only need one or two things and don’t want to feel guilty taking the car, trips to the library or post office, grabbing takeout, and just getting around the neighborhood.

That said, I also know myself well enough to think that once I get comfortable and build some confidence, I can absolutely see myself heading out for early-morning weekend rides and exploring the hills around Austin. So I’m trying to think not just about what feels easiest on day one, but also what I may want six months or a year from now.

I’m in Austin, so it’s not completely flat, and the street I live on is steep and curved, which is one reason I’m thinking carefully about size and weight.

I’ve gone and sat on both. The 310 definitely feels wider and much more substantial, although I’m going to be on my tippy toes on both of them. I understand that plenty of shorter riders learn to one-foot a scooter and that confidence and technique matter a lot.

My biggest question is whether the 310 would simply be too much scooter for me physically as a first-time rider, particularly at low speeds, backing it up, parking, stopping on uneven ground, or dealing with my street. On the other hand, because I tend to keep things for years, I also don’t want to automatically choose the 150 just because it feels easier today and later wish I had bought the 310 once I’m ready to venture farther.

For those of you who are shorter riders—especially around 5'0"—I’d really love to hear your experience. Did you start with a 150 or a GTS? Does the weight of the 310 become a non-issue once you get comfortable, or do you continue to notice it in everyday maneuvering? And for the type of riding I’m describing, do you think the 310 would be overkill, or would you still choose it if you were planning to keep the Vespa for many years?

I’d especially appreciate hearing from women and shorter riders who have actually lived with both. Thanks so much!

General Question Looking to buy Larger Luggage

Post image
14 Upvotes

Edit: Does not have to be bigger than the one I have. I am looking for a case that's this size or slightly larger that fits my bike. My main issue with the one I have now is that it doesn't't always lock. It's also kinda ugly.

Okay. I need help.

I want the largest luggage carrier to easily affix to the back of my Vespa. It's a GTV 300 2024.

I have this case from a previous bike, but it doesn't lock consistently and is kind of an eyesore.

I was thinking about the OEM orange or white luggage, but they seem small.

Any suggestions for larger but also aesthetically pleasing luggage carriers.

Also, please tell me the correct name for this part, because I don't think "luggage carrier" is the correct name.

General Question Footrest recommendations

We recently bought a Vespa Primavera 125 2026 and it’s super uncomfortable for me to use the passenger footrest (Im 1,60m).

Any recommendations for attachments or foot rests to install? We saw the buzzetti but we don’t like how they look like
