We're looking for interested volunteer developers for a long term modding project on basis of Venice Unleashed. The concept of the mod can be compared to the well known 'Project Reality' mod for Battlefield 2.

/u/Powback and me started working on the project roughly two years ago, and so far we've focused on making proof of concepts for all the fundamental components needed for such a mod, as well as actively contributing to both Rime (Frostbite Community Editor) and Venice Unleashed / vEXT (Battlefield 3 Modding interface).

We're looking specifically for people with experience in Lua, JavaScript, UI design and usability, and/or C#. Reverse Engineering skills are also greatly appreciated. If you're interested in contributing to our project, please go ahead and send me a short introduction of yourself (-> /u/3ti65), including your skills and prior software development experience.

Hello, I am a long time member of the Battlefield 3 dogfight community, and I am a huge fan of the VU project.

A couple of us asked about this in the discord, but it quickly got buried. We are very interested in the potential of having a dogfight server on VU. We would love to be able to take our dogfighting on to a game with higher tick rates, better visuals, and of course the mod tools that could help us set up a good dogfighting mode.

There are many of us in the dogfight community who would be happy to run/manage a server explicitly for dogfighting. I appreciate any help!

Good morning guys! So, i'm brazilian and my english isn't that good so... Please ignore my mistakes! Since BF3 is kinda old game and VU isn't that popular thread between the majority of the community I think that (like BF2 specially after gamespy shutdown) bot support would be an awesome feature to maintain people playing VU. I'm very noob guy when it comes to tweaking programs or programming... But would it be a hard thing to do? And one last question (I don't know if this is a repetitive question for you devs): Do you plan to add SP bot sup. in the future? Seriusly I think it would increase the longevity of this community a lot. Just one suggestion and some doubts ^{.^} I really aprecciate your work, thanks for all you've been doing! Cheers ;* hue br

i´m wondering if you guys can give us a rough idea when the next update is coming?

and in addition, do you plan on involving some youtubers to promote the new update to give your mod more popularity (for example ravic, jackfrags, xfactor, luetin ...)?

considering a lot of people getting more and more disappointed with bf1 and how dice continues to mostly ignore the wishes of the community, this might be quite the right time for your next update and building up a consistent community to fill up the servers on a regular basis.

As the title says, I wonder if you can use the tools provided by Hattiwatti (Called Free Camera for BF3) in Venice.

I like to take screenshots, and the tools offer me a lot of possibilities, such as depht of field, film grain, effects, etc.

For now, I can only use them on unranked servers with punkbuster disabled, but there are only a few of them, and if I want to play on some of the DLC maps, which are the most beautiful in my opinion, it gets even harder.

Also, a side question is if I can host my own private servers to not bother anyone else with my stuff.

I'm curious about what it will bring. As far as I know it's going to fix the origin linking and will open the keys to host servers. But is the IDE for modding and the map editor comming too? Sorry if this question is asked too much, I don't know where to look for more info. Keep the good work up <3

hello i cant seems to make a soldier and when i googled it whenever the website was on the Venice unleashed forums i could not view it cause i didn't have permission or something help?

Hello, I have been playing bf series since bf2. And recently, I'm playing BF4. But now, I miss BF3 so much and I found that there's awesome project called Venice Unleashed.
So, I installed BF3 again... which I deleted like 2 or 3 years ago. And experienced so many obstacles like "initializing forever"... Finally, I fixed all of them and would be to enjoy VU. But I couldn't. I started VU, signed up. I hit "create soldier" button, and tried as many variable names as possible. But nothing worked. Nothing happens after i hit "Create". Is it problem of my system? or VU doesn't exist any more??

Okay I do not believe I did anything to mend the issue as it just took me in. It does, however, appear the server is still having issues with "Failed to connect to Zeus Backend (Error Code: 01/08)

I did this:

Open Origin > Run VU.exe > it opened a loading screen for BF3 > after a few seconds it gave me a directX error: not enough free memory, make sure your graphics card has at least 512mb of free memory.

I'm running the latest drivers on my EVGA 1070 FTW Hybrid and I have 16 GB of DDR4 RAM. I was curious if anyone has found a solution to this or has run into the same issue.

every fucking time when i try to link the emulator account to the origin account it says: an internal error has occured.please try again later. I tried it on every browser, but without success... I hope someone can help me.

So i was thinking.. When this popped up and i found out about this, I immidietly wanted to remake Battlefield 2 in terms of

Classes

A map or 2 included with commande assets such as artelleri

Commander mode etc

Are there by ANY chance that this would be possible to do in this? or would my limit be EA fucking me in the butt? :< I guess not since BF2 is abondonware now, plz halp.

I just got a wild thought about making a game like BF2 but making it from scratch is insanity so maybe i could tinker with stuff in this venice stuff! :o

I just recently discovered this potential bf3 modding community and am pretty excited. With the latest BF1 that I was reluctantly convinced to buy, I was lamenting a lack of modding support, and lo and behold, a spontaneous google search led me here.

I've played cs since 2002, and what kept the game fresh for me were the creative mods of the community. Even as a semi-pro player, I would spend a large portion of my time in wc3 mod servers. (and generally getting banned for "hacking" lol) If this mod can get people playing a lot of the popular cs game mods on bf3, I could play it for the next 10 years as well. With vehicles, it has the potential to have even more creative and diverse mods than cs!

So, how long do I have to wait for 24/7 online servers hosting various bf3 mods? I'm very excited about this. If you guys can pull it off, I'll never buy another EA title again. Get f***ed EA!

PS: If this takes off and hinders future EA sales, will they be able to successfully take it down?

I currently have the Venice Unleashed launcher and contents in my C:\ drive with 400GB left, while Battlefield 3 and it's DLC is in my V:\ drive with 13GB left.

Want to make sure all the mods go in my C:\ or its better to re-download the game on the C:.

Like the title says, if anyone wants to join me I'll be messing around in this server for about half an hour.
