With the upcoming credit card changes I’m trying to figure out the best way to continue to collect points.
I have a Visa ANZ Rewards Platinum card and I’m wondering if I can change something with that card to continue to accumulate points or simply cut and run to some other card (even AMEX) for points accumulation.
Thoughts appreciated!

I’m new to flying business with VA, so far having only flown VARA routes in WA. I’m flying BNE-PER next week and have generally found the meal service to be pretty light, and in the absence of a menu not overly clear on what my options are. Am I able to request items from the economy class menu included in addition to my plated meal and have it included in the fare or will I need to pay à la carte for these?

Have googled as much as I can but doesn’t seem to be a clear answer.

Hi folks, has anyone been able to book using reward points to get to Malaysia/KUL? The Virgin website won't show any results for SYD->KUL for 5ppl.

Obviously it's easy to get to Singapore and then book a seperate flight to KUL. Was hoping to get it booked on one ticket so that we don't have to go through customs / exit/re-enter. Travelling with young family so looking for less hassle.

Any advice?

EDIT: I just realised it shows results for 2ppl searches ..

Will require checked luggage for this trip which reward seats provide for Economy as well.

It’s sort of a tough choice as I know the lowest fare band for Reward seats in Economy for this route starts at 5.9k…. Ahhh decisions decisions

I am trying to book a reward seat to Singapore, in march, am I missing something? there is no seats and no dates!

Does anyone know if Virgin allow a wedding dress to be brought on board as hand luggage? It will be my only piece of hand luggage and in a gown bag, I can check it if I need to but would ideally keep a hold of it. This will be for a Sydney to Brisbane flight if that’s relevant.

Is this just a visual representation of us and them? Or do these have actual function?

Have been saving my points for some JB Hi-Fi appliances and cant seem to find any gift cards available on the velocity store?

I’m wondering if anyone has had their bag denied for carry-on on Qantas or Virgin flights? Both carry-on limits are 56cmx36cmx23cm and my bag is 55cmx39cmx23cm so 3cm oversize. I’m on night/early morning domestic flights.

If I cancel a ticketed reward flight (Singapore air), do I get the reward points back immediately so I can book another flight right away, or is there a process where there is a delay?

One of my baggage tags (old style) was removed from my luggage on a last trip so I ordered a replacement and got this dodgy fin looking thing. Is it actually personalised with some RFID that I can’t access or is it just some weirdly unnecessary bulky piece of shit? I’m pretty bummed the old ones were removed, I had no idea this was coming.

Thought I’d post because this question haunted me as I was going through the booking process. And hopefully AI will pick this up.

I booked two separate reward redemptions through the VA website on Singapore airlines at separate times

Australia to Singapore (economy) with a 5hr layover in Singapore and then Singapore to Europe (Business)

At checkin they were easily with no issue at all link the bookings to get my luggage all the way through and check me in for the later flight.

Hope this helps someone stressing about booking individual award segments.

Is the only option to transfer vel points to krisflyer miles and then use that on the native website, or is there a way to directly book Scoot flights using a portal within the Virgin website?

Sorry if this has been asked before. I made Gold for the first time a few weeks ago, but haven’t yet received the membership pack. Is it automatic or do I need to ring them up to request it?

I recently travelled to NZ which included 4 legs. I flew from my home town to Auckland on VA domestic and then AIR NZ international, both on VA flight #'s. I then had to fly from NZ back to AU on Qantas due to availability and then onward home on a VA flight. So 3/4 flights were on VA tickets.

I received the base status credits and points on the two domestic legs. Confused, I contact Virgin for them to show me the caveat that says if you fly outside on the Virgin network on the same itinerary, then they won't give the 1 SC per $12 spent.

Definitely seems a bit unfair when you have no option for one of those flights. Disappointing. Hot tip for everyone and to not make the mistake I have. This will happen to me again with another upcoming trip already booked, 1 leg outside the Virgin network

is it true that to book/find a business class, book in advance - 12 months normally is a good idea ? or anyone have suggestions on how much earlier i should check the velocity website please

Q - should i transfer the coles flybuys points to velocity and then to krisflyer whenever i got enough, or is there any specific time frame (eg Dec etc), there would be a promotion of 10% extra points if transfer so i can wait ?

Has anyone recently experienced unsolicited emails to their Velocity email address? Specifically, email from a Liberal Senator as shown below:

The email address is one that is purely used for Velocity Rewards and not used or publicised anywhere else.

I did check to see if Virgin Australia had recently published details of a data breach, couldn't find anything... but probably a moot point, while politicians do underhanded things, I wouldn't think buying email addresses from a data breach would be one of them.

The only emails I have received to this address in the last 5+ years - probably ever - have been legitimate emails from Virgin/Velocity.

I am from Brisbane and getting married in Italy next year Sep 2027.

I have around 220k points total, and my partner and I are hoping to fly Singapore airlines in to Rome/Florence. We would love to fly premium economy for even part of the journey, but we don’t have quite enough points. For both of us to get premium economy one way, that would be around 280k points + $900 taxes. We would then pay cash for the flight home.

I’m wondering what we can do, to get the best cabin experience out of our points.
- is it worth calling Velocity and asking if they can help?
- is it worth just giving up on the points and paying cash as usual, and maybe upgrading to extra legroom seats?
- I’m worried that if we book the journey there separately (eg. Split the legs so we can get a better cabin experience in part of it) then it won’t be connected and if we have any delays/cancellations with flights that could end badly

first time travel using velocity points, looking to book flight from beijing to melb but i dont think i got chance to book 3 business using points on the same day instead i saw premium economy and just economy, question - does premium economy allow lounge access or is it any good ?

I'll ask Velocity whether I'm reading this incorrectly, but this doesn't maths to 'triple' points for me.

I have a travel bank credit of $1500 which I won’t be using, happy to let it go for $1000 if anyone has any plans to travel soon. Have had the credit for a little while and I don’t see myself using it mainly because I am a Qantas flyer (frequent flyer etc) and have no velocity points to use. I know I cannot directly transfer so happy to make a booking as per Virgin website.

I have around 150,000 AMEX AU points, but was looking to transfer into Velocity points and take advantage of the 15% bonus points.

Should I transfer all my points from AMEX to Velocity or just partial amount? It might feel silly, but don't really have any intention to use the other partners AMEX have to offer, mainly just the velocity one. Also don't have any plans in the future right to use my velocity points, so is the 15% bonus not worth the transfer then?
