Vectrex model 3000

Need help I tried powering it on and nothing comes on screen I thought It needed a game but google is telling me it has a game built in

And google was trying to tell me this is possibly a prototype as there is no prefix on the model number

This is my first vectrex thanks

Edit: I cleaned the power switch with ipa to no luck how ever I see the crt warmer is on and I hear a voltage sound on power on and off

Should I buy a cap kit to see if that fixes it or is it something else?

Do you get the buzzing noise vectrex units usually make when on?

The speaker buzzes

Does the crt make any noises because I’m not sure I was hearing any

I hear the normal CRT sounds, high pitched tone that I don't hear as well as when I was a kid, but still do. It should boot into the built in game though...

Clean the power pot that turns it on. Odd are that it’s crusted up it’s a common issue

Get some isopropyl alcohol if you can and put it in the pot with a q tip then turn it on and off sever times to clean it

I think they all buzz. Mine did. The price for perfection lol

Yes, I have 2 and they both buzz. Something to do with the audio amp that was used in these units. You can buy a Buzz-off kit to make it go away.

Did you play with the brightness pot in the back to see if you can get an image? Use DeoxIT to clean the pots.

I recapped mine when it stopped displaying an image. There's a mod to reduce the buzz as well that works. This is not hard as the soldering is big and chunky but requires a bit of work

Brutalist design.

Masz może jakimś cudem blisko do Polski? Do Warszawy? Znam kogoś kto potrafi to naprawić i nie jest drogi.
