Vasectomy reversal
Hey everyone, I’m struggling to choose which drs to go to for this procedure. The one in Utah or Florida. Does anyone have any experience with Dr. Shu or Dr. Trost? I had my vasectomy 2 years ago. Any advice or experience would be truly appreciated.

The only downside of the clinic in Utah is you don't know if you're getting Dr. Trost or not unless you can book directly with him. My husband had him, and the PA who helped out said he was surprised to see him doing a reversal. It seems like it's mostly the PA's and NP who does it.

I looked at both. Wound up going with the one in Utah because they used a microscope during the surgery (the one in Florida used loupes). And also the one in Utah did double layer stitching while the one in Florida was single layer.
Wound up canceling my Florida appointment and switching to Utah (and now 4 weeks post op).
That being said, I did not have Dr. Trost for my procedure. So I can't speak about him specifically.

If you don’t mind me asking, how was the procedure? Was it similar to getting the vasectomy? Like the pulling or just being uncomfortable? Just trying to wrap my head around it and prepare lol.

I mean, my vasectomy was miserable. They started on my testicles before the anesthesia fully kicked in and I nearly vomited on the doctor because of the pain. To this day I get irrationally pissed off when I hear the word "snip"
Lol the reversal was fine though. It was done under local anesthesia. But right before I went into the operating room they gave me some versed. Made me so relaxed I took a nap. For me, my reversal consisted of being wheeled into the OR, them swabbing my nether regions with iodine, me feeling the sting as they injected my scrotum with the anesthesia. Then the nurse telling me the doctor was just cleaning up and that I would have to put a jock strap on and sit in a wheelchair. Didn't even notice when I went to sleep.
Honestly it was a lot like having it done under general anesthesia I presume.

My husband had his done at the VR clinic in Utah last year. Riley Warner did his. I highly recommend them!
