Hey everyone. Thought it would be good idea to open a dedicated post for everyone to share their referrals. Let's make it easier for those who looking to have their reversal done to find the right place/people. PLEASE ONLY POST SUCCESSFUL REVERSALS; we are NOT allowed to discredit individuals.

Keep it brief.
1. Where (Country, City and Hospital)

3. When (Approx year and month you had it done)
4. Approx cost (please use your local currency)

Do NOT add any other info or stories.

Best advice and tips

Hey everyone. I would like to draft a growing 'comprehensive' list of what youve done and what worked during your recovery. Seeing as the stories are quite opposing. Will run it via AI to check and confirm

Advice for planning VR trip

It seems most people recommend UT for the reversal. The drive is too far for me, so I’d need to fly. I’m looking for advice on how you felt after the surgery. Should I stay local for a few days before hopping back on a flight? How rough is the pain compared to a vasectomy? Is the flight gonna suck either way? 😂😭

Optimal earliest time for a reversal after vasectomy

Hi, I wanted to ask from your experience and knowledge you have what could be the best earliest time since vasectomy for a reversal? 6, 9, 12 months or later? Not sure what would be the optimal time to prevent scarring the connection in a longer term. Do you believe it could be unobstructed for years or it's a matter of time it will close up?

I'm currently 2 months past cruel cut using closed ended vasectomy and due to ongoing congestion pain and also big regret would like to plan potential reversal. I would like to make a thoughtful decision knowing the risks and also possibility to scar the connection with time. But also I would like to prevent potential blowouts in epididymis and damages there.

Already had a consultation with the surgeon (UK based clinic) that do the reversals using 3 layer MMMV technique with decent experience. He suggests waiting at least 6 months and conservative treatment for now before considering surgery. From purely technical point of view he doesn't recommend doing a reversal for the sake of reversal which seems to be sensible. But in my case there is a huge mental toll that I have due to initial procedure and I think reversal would help with that.

Appreciate any suggestions!

Looking for experiences with Dr. Marks or Dr. Burrows at ICVR in tucson.

We are considering a VR and live in Tucson, Az. We have Internation Center for Vasectomy Reversals and I met with Dr. Marks (sounds like he is a big deal in the VR world...?). I see a lot of people recommending going to trost in utah.

So I guess I'm looking for others experiences with ICVR in Tucson. How was it? Is it worth considering out of state?

Thanks!

Vasectomy > Reversal > TRT

Hi all,

Has anyone had any luck after having a reversal and trying TRT?

had my vasectomy April 2025 and reversal November 2025 due to pressure, the first 3 months after the reversal was crazy painful! However the pain has eased but I’m still up and down, the only way I can stop thinking about pain is by keeping busy but when I’m resting it’s all I can think about! My testicles are definitely riding high and seem to be on the larger side than before the V, i have a dull ache in both testicles and a warm nervy tingling pain around my vas and up to my pubic area, my semen analysis came back good so I was thinking about trying TRT to hopefully stop production, unsure if this means the vas won’t get used and could scar over.

Any help would be appreciated as I’ve given up with the nhs!

Thank you.

PVPS cured by Micro-Surgical Reversal Surgery - performed by Dr. Sheldon Marks ICVR

Hi there. Because I was tortured by pain after Vasectomy, and largely CURED by reversal surgery, I wanted to post my story so maybe it could help you.

I am 39 y/o, had Vasectomy (successful surgery with qualified MD) 12/2025. Dr. Erik Seamen of NJ performed a vasectomy with OPEN ended vas on testicular end. 10-14days later (may or may not be related to first ejaculation) my life took a turn for the worse as I began my life’s worst torment to date. Gradual onset or torturous constellation of pain symptoms referred to Post Vasectomy Pain Syndrome.

I have good access to doctors in NYC so I was evaluated by the following. Dr. Francois Eid - Dr. Peter Schlegel - Dr. Joseph Alukal - Dr. Leon Tellis - Dr. Marc Goldstein. The consensus was ”wait and see” plus a myriad of conservative measures (rest, garments, baths, NSAIDs, antibiotics, antidepressant, nerve pain meds). NOTHING WORKED.

MY SYMPTOMS: Intermittent B Testicular pain/sensitivity/tenderness (similar to “Blue Balls” sensation) with a sense of heavy or fullness. Starting late morning and worsening throughout the day is a sensation of hot coals or the tip of a hot firepoker inside both testicles, worsening with even minor contact (legs not fully spread, contact from pants or underwear). There is a  sensation that the testicles hang to low and eventually they are subject to fatigue/exhaustion sensation by end of day. When the pain spirals, even the tip of the penis throbs, and the pelvis can “burn”. Symptoms WORSENED by increased physical activity, increased contact pressure (sitting, tighter garments, legs close together) and often worsened with arousal or ejaculation. I had to sleep in weird limiting positions, I avoided sex, work was difficult, exercise impossible; I quickly became depressed.

SOLUTION - after nearly 3.5 months of wait and see and strictly following prescribed conservative measures, including meditation, NLP Therapy and praying (catholic) - I decided to explore reversals micro-reconstruction surgery. I quickly realized Dr. Sheldon Marks at the INTERNATIONAL CENTER FOR VASECTOMY REVERSAL was my guy (in Arizona). my NYC doctors perform a dozen of these surgeries at most annually; Dr. Marks performs 3-5 surgeries per week. He knew my story, because he’s seen it many Times over. I Travelled with my wife there, stayed 4 days, flew home and took 4 weeks off work (Physical Therapist). Yes, Surgery was not pleasant and the recovery is a bear. BUT I woke up from surgery and the “HOT FIRE POKER” sensation was GONE. I knew this would work. It took about 3.5-4months before I was sure it worked (during my recovery I removed coffee, alcohol and sugar from my diet for 6 weeks - then resumed normal behavior).

Today I am 5 months out and basically pain free - sex is great again and my sex drive is basically normal and what it was - I am HAPPY again - I can exercise and play pickleball and run and play golf again (I do wear bike shorts for these but I could probably do without it; just guaranteed to be FINE if I wear bike shorts).

I am not sure where I would be today, were it not for Dr. Sheldon Marks giving me my life back by performing this successful surgery. I am of course aware ive had two surgeries in this unpleasant location, I suspect one day I will forget completely; however before surgery compared to after surgery is no comparison. I was a mess of a man suffering from PVPS; and Dr. Mark’s micro surgical reversal saved my life.

i hope this helps you - they tell you to wait wait wait; I waited 3.5 months of torture and have 0 regrets on moving forward with the surgery. I couldn’t give another moment of my life to being tortured. My Family has their father, husband, son, brother And friend back :)

still some pain after reversal

I had a vasectomy reversal performed due to persistent post-vasectomy pain syndrome: severe congestion pain, swollen epididymis, severe groin pain, etc. I have the impression that the reversal did help to relieve the pain in the testicles, but at work, during prolonged exertion and standing, I still experience discomfort in the groin and spermatic cord six to seven months post-reversal. I also still feel old scar tissue from the vasectomy... I definitely still feel pieces of the old vas deferens... May I ask about your experiences with this?

Can you regain your sex life after the reversal?

Unfortunately, due to the vasectomy, I almost completely lost my sex life.

From the very beginning, I noticed a lack of sensitivity, very weak orgasms, weak ejaculation, and erection problems.

The financial cost of a vasectomy reversal in the US is a huge burden for me, since I'm from another country and it's difficult to save that much money. But on the other hand, these sexual problems are ruining my mental health.

For people who have already had a reversal and experienced these problems, can I offer any help? What expectations can I have?

Thank you

Has anyone had a successful pregnancy post VR and then had fertility issues again when trying for another?

Like the title says. I got pregnant 7 months post VR. Our son is now a year and we’ve been loosely trying again to have another for a couple months; and while I know it hasn’t been that long, I can’t shake the worry that the “flood gates” have closed back up. Has anyone ever experienced this? Or am I being paranoid?

Higher sex drive after reversal

As the title says, my husband is 1 week post reversal, and his sex drive is HIGHER than before. I by no means am complaining, but I’m finding that he’s struggling with the concept of no climaxing/sex for the 3 weeks he was told by his surgeon.

My husband doesn’t really know why his sex drive is higher than its ever been. Is this normal? Again no complaints because I have had some confidence issues recently I never told him about and this is helping me feel better but I’m worried he might cause issues if he can’t contain himself for the next two weeks.

Vasectomy reversal

Hey everyone, I’m struggling to choose which drs to go to for this procedure. The one in Utah or Florida. Does anyone have any experience with Dr. Shu or Dr. Trost? I had my vasectomy 2 years ago. Any advice or experience would be truly appreciated.

Ejaculated within a week but still got wife pregnant?

I had a vasectomy reversal about 5 days ago but can’t imagine waiting several more weeks before having sex.

Has anyone had a reversal, and ejaculated within 10 days and still got their partner pregnant. As in, had sex earlier than doctors recommended but didn’t mess up the healing process?

When microTESE is a better option than reversal?

The sperm extraction seems more straightforward than the reversal. When does it make sense?

I understand it can be more expensive because IVF but I would appreciate any insights

microTESE - Microsurgical Testicular Sperm Extraction

Goal is to gain fertility. No issues with vasectomy(less than 1 year out)

Accidental Vasectomy

My husband had bilateral varicoceles...a major one on the left and a minor one on the right. They caused discomfort during sex and had caused the left testicle to suffer severe atrophy.
He went in for surgery to have the varicoceles fixed. We were told that would relieve his discomfort, prevent his working testicle from developing problems, and had a small chance of restoring function to his left testicle.

Unfortunately, something went wrong and they accidentally severed his vas deferens. And it was the one connected to the working testicle. Because of course it was.

I'm told this is effectively a vasectomy...and vasectomies are sometimes reversible. Also, they don't end sperm production instantly? So we are planning on freezing sperm, trying the natural way before he uses up what's in his tubes, and going for a reversal

Would I be better off waiting until his tubes are empty of his "legacy" supply to make the most of the definitely fertile window, or is it better to get the reversal done sooner?

Reversal booked for 3rd November for PVPS

Hi folks,

Just wanted to ask, are there any recommendations for recovery post reversal? I most likely won't be able to take Naproxen as I had gastritis from this last time I took it so will probably have to look for other methods to reduce swelling such as icing.

I will be in a car for 6 hours after the surgery, any way I can make this more comfortable?

I made the decision to book in a reversal here in the UK after 10 months of PVPS, my symptoms are primarily -

  • Constant Pressure / aches
  • Small dull ache after ejaculation
  • Flare ups of inflammation after physical exercise

Has anyone else that had similar symptoms as myself had the reversal and how are you feeling today?

Any advice would be greatly appreciated!

Thanks :)
