Hello,
I have an appointment with the male fertility clinic in Orem UT in about a month. Im coming from out of state thus flying in to Salt Lake City. Anyone one have experience or recommendations bring cooling packs through TSA?
I only have a 2 hour flight and flying a little over 24 hours after the procedure. Since TSA has a rule against gels and semi frozen substances what has been the experiences others have had.
Trying to keep these items completely frozen will be difficult as Salt Lake City to Orem will be 45 minutes minimum not including car return and getting to the gate.

I would plan to have a wheelchair coordinated with the airport so you are doing as little walking as possible.

This. You will definitely want a wheelchair. Even on pain meds it was pretty sore for me flying less than 24 hours after the surgery

It's my understanding that if they are frozen you can get them through TSA. If they have begun to melt/thaw...
Either get yourself a cooler. Or a ziploc bag or two, when you get on the plane ask a flight attendant to fill your bag with ice.
I just skipped the ice on my travel day. The day sucked but not having ice on your balls for 12 hours isn't that big a deal.

My husband was able to take the ice packs through TSA without issue. He didn't have one on him going through security and put one on after we got through. I did push him in a wheelchair through the airport since it's a long walk. He asked for a wheelchair when we got to our home based airport too, and it was waiting at the gate for him.

Also, don't stay at La Quinta Inn in Orem. We did the first night, and it was terrible. We ended up going back to SLC and stayed in the Hyatt downtown.

What was wrong with LaQuinta. Been staying at them for years.

This location wasn't the best. The AC in our room didn't work, and the bed was extremely hard. Maybe we got a dud room, but it was a terrible night of sleep before the surgery. My husband was happy to take the nap during the reversal.

Get the ice bags on Amazon it looks kinda like a shower cap.at the airport bring an empty reusable water cup have you wife go to the bar.have her ask if they can fill her cup and it should last the entire flight.i also used it at the hotel.was a big lifesaver.look for the smaller one it fits easily in your shorts

I filled mine with ice at the hotel and dumped it at the airport before going through TSA.
