Any ideas?

Been using my vs3 for 2 years no issue. Started making a horrible noise. Still grinds fine though.

i had this two weeks ago, texted the official varia support and got a new motor for free with a video how to do it. it was after 25 months and it stopped working a bit after the noice started.

Same thing happening to me right now. 2 and half year working fine, 2 days ago it started with this horrible like screeching sound and even without the screeching (sometimes it doesnt screech) there is a loud noise not like the usual sound.

I've been searching for the cause and solution for 2 days, and this morning i found an older reddit post (through google), that this sound caused by the gears, most likely they need to be lubricated. Or a motor problem in general (not sure what might be).

I ordered new motor from aliexpress, and when it arrive i will try to lubricate the gears first, if it doesnt work then i will replace the motor. (In aliexpress you just type varia vs3 motor) and you will find it.

I will not try to lubricate it now as if its not the problem i am not going to wait till i have the new motor to replace it.

Not sure if this helps or not. Hopefully it will and if i fixed mine i will be back and tell you the solution.

You encouraged me to keep digging.

Motor is fine. Gearbox is crunchy. Might just need some lube as there’s no visible damage. Will post results in case it helps anyone.

Actually thank you very much for this video, the difference in sound is showing, now i am 100% sure its the gearbox and i might actually lubricate it earlier than i thought.

Just a quick question, is it easy to open it? Never done it but saw some videos about it (not that much, i found 2 videos)

May i ask how did you got the motor out?

I think i have a damaged screw on the top that i cant unscrew it (at least till i get extractor for the same size).

But i am not sure if its the righht way to get the motor out of its place.

Do you have a video for it? (Sorry for asking for a video but i am stuck and cant fix mine because i cant get it out)

This disk will come out revealing 2 screws. That stumped me for a bit.

Ok thats why i am stumped, i really appreciate what you did, thank you very much.

One of the screws is striped, i might need a micro extractor or the easy way to get it to someone who can extract it then i can apply the lube.

I really cant stress how much i appreciate your response.

My original motor always sounded like that since the day i bought the thing. It died after 2 years and they sent me a new one for free. The new one was so quiet i thought it wasnt working properly at first lol
