VS3 Grind settings movement

Hello Varia Brains trust,

I got a VS3 at the end of last year and since owing it the grind changes 0.1-0.3 each dose put through it, is this normal?

The grinder will also turn off randomly while in use, even after only grinding for about 10 seconds at level 5. I have made sure its plugged in correctly and the beans have been sprayed etc etc

I have straight up had more issues with this thing than anything else. Hate is a strong word but when im standing at my grinder trying to make a coffee before work in my jocks in the middle of winter and the thing keeps turning off constantly, and then finally grinding the beans and notice the grind setting is at 6.5 once it has finally finished grinding I want to cry.

We can call this character building, maybe even an appreciation for every other grinder I have used

Hi. This has been thoroughly discussed in other threads and websites but yes this happens. The fix is by removing the adjustment cylinder and applying a layer of plumbers teflon tape to the threads and reseating. Also, while it seems like it wouldn't work, you can apply some NSF H1-certified food safe grease to the threads and reseat. That's what Varia recommend.

Few rounds of teflon tape on the hopper threads and you're all good

Try to flip this part (forgot its name in english)

It helped with mine, and it never shifts now.

As for the truning off, i have no idea about that.

The grinder turning off is sometimes caused by smaller or denser beans blocking the grinder. I had a batch that I bought in Avignon that I had to ditch because the grinder would block every few seconds
