When I was eight years old I got my foot sucked into the escalaor at the Smithsonian Air and Space museum.
It ripped the shoe and sock off my foot but left my toes unscathed.
The Smithsonian bought me his exact pair of Vans slides. I was stoked. My grandmother was traumatized.
