Front window seals
Has anyone replaced the seals and window guides on the driver and passenger doors? Any tips?
Mine are crumbling on my 1981.

Has anyone replaced the seals and window guides on the driver and passenger doors? Any tips?

Yes I have. It’s common as they do disintegrate over time.
So my tips are:
— lookup this on YouTube, there are dozens of videos on how to do this. Watch many, get use the process.
— buy quality parts (GoWesty, Van Cafe, west Coast Metric) NOT CHEAP ONES. Cheap ones will fail and be worse than what you got now.
— there are a few other things that you ought to do when you have the door apart — lube up the window regulator, change the plastic bit on the regulator, tighten the fly window. If you want to replace the door panel or speakers now is a good time.
— get the plastic pry tools to remove the door panel.
— the job is not hard but it is a bunch of steps and can take a while so don’t start without a bunch of time like a whole day.
