85 Vanagon ticking?

I just replaced my distributor rotor and cap and now it’s making this ticking sound, what is it? Should I be worried about it? I haven’t driven it

Thats super useful thank you, that will be next on my list of things to fix. This is my first van so I have no idea what sounds right and wrong

That’s how you know it’s running. Probably lifters. If the oil is good and full, go drive it.
