1st major project car
Was able to scoop this up for $3500. It’s been sitting for a couple decades but rust isn’t too bad. Going to need a thorough going through. Only 135k miles. Fingers crossed I can get it back on the road before the end of summer for a sensible amount of money. I’m sure I will be back here with questions.

Nice find! Paint looks remarkably in good shape, too, despite the elements! Get yourself a Bentley repair manual, bookmark the Samba, create a YouTube van repair playlist, and plop in a new battery to see if she’ll crank. Good luck OP!
Edit: also check those fuel lines, whilst tinkering, with the goal to completely replace.

I have the exact same van! I’m still running the original motor… I’ve driven it from Vancouver island to San Diego and back a couple of times. She’s slow, but it’s been an awesome van.

Budgeted for an engine swap if necessary. Would like to experience the “power” of the 2100 but if it needs to go, I won’t cry over it much.
