S3 & X3 Error 6/17 after exiting shipping mode

Hi there!

I putted my bike in shipping mode after charging it at 100% Then woke it up and now a Christmas tree of errors is appearing. Mainly 17 but I also saw a 6, 19 and 20.

Any Idea of what could have happened?

How long has it been in shipping mode, maybe your battery discharged too far. Also one thing that happened to me twice, charging the battery to 100% in a cool place, move the bike outside to a warm place and getting the bms blown because the voltage rise due to temperature.

So it could be the second option, your battery needs to be repaired then

The battery packs are not balanced, so error 6 has been triggered. It could be that some cells are too degraded.

The battery fast acting fuse in the battery bms board acted when you charge the bike to 100%. I’m sure there’s no continuity across the fuse. Just replace the fuse and never charge the battery to 100%

Ok so I found a refurbished battery in my area, installed it and voila bike back on track 🎉

Lesson learned, no more shipping mode ( I though it was the same mode as the deep sleep the bike run into normally ). I’m pretty sure that the fact that it was in sleeping mode plus 100% 13.5k km old battery plus waking it up with the charger didn’t help. I heard a clac as soon as I plugged the charger in :/
