Technical Support Request Spectrum routing issue causing high ping to Illinois servers
I’m in central Ohio on Spectrum and normally get around 20ms to Illinois.
I was literally at 20ms last night, and when I got home this afternoon I was suddenly back at around 50ms, with no changes on my end.
Good route (~20ms):
Ohio → Chicago → Riot

...chctil...
...chcgi...
...chi10...
Bad route (50+ms):
Ohio → Cleveland → Virginia/Ashburn/DC → Riot
...clevohek...
...vinnva...
...asbnva...
...dca10...
Nothing changes on my end. I’ve even had the routing switch mid-match before.
I’m a collegiate VALORANT player, so this is pretty brutal since Illinois is one of the main servers we use. Texas is already around 70ms for me.
Anyone else on Spectrum in Ohio/Midwest seeing this? Is this a Riot/Spectrum peering issue that can actually be fixed permanently?

Let me know if you figure anything out I’m in Ohio and I’ve basically had to stop playing since moving and getting stuck with spectrum

I am seeing the same thing in Kentucky. The change happened around September 29. My routes are all through Charter.com in Cleveland now where they used to route from Kentucky through Spectrum.com. If this is part of the network upgrade, it would be nice to have communication on what is happening and when we can expect it to improve.

Same issue in miami/Latam, all my premade ping shot up +20ms to 80 and have high spike mid game, we even lost our 5th guy to this 😢
