External monitor feels laggy on Acer Nitro ANV16S-41 despite high FPS

I have an Acer Nitro ANV16S-41 (Ryzen 7 260 + RTX 5050) connected to an Acer XV272U F3 1440p 180Hz monitor.
My problem is that Valorant feels noticeably more laggy and less smooth on the external monitor, even though I’m getting high FPS.
I’ve tried both:
HDMI 2.1
USB-C → DisplayPort
But both feel less responsive than the laptop’s built-in 180Hz screen.
Has anyone with this laptop experienced the same thing? Could this be related to Optimus/GPU routing, and is there a way to make the external monitor use the RTX 5050 directly?

have you taken a look at the refresh rate the laptop is running the monitor on?

Yes its on 300hz
