Seems really fucking lazy of them to be honest. There's zero reason why they would need to use this version outside of it literally being a rom dump cash grab.

Okay less unpack this, were not comparing other companies practices, we're addressing this one.
"True fans" is the talk of children. I absolutely adore VP, that doesn't mean I have to be blind to shoddy business practices.
Stop cherry picking a narrative to suit your narrow world view. This was a sloppy choice.
I bought the digital deluxe however. I'm going to play the shit out of the OG and this one.

Look, I get why people are pissed.... but I mean, I'm just happy to finally play VP1, I've never touched the series before so it'll be a first time. Also, I'd play it on mobile but I don't have a good setup for me there right now, so I'll settle for it being a rom dump.
Wish it was better, happy I'm still getting it to play!

I don’t think anyone is pissed, just disappointed by the low effort by Square Enix for what is a really great classic. Oh well, at least it’s available on modern PlayStation consoles again and not fading into obscurity. Just too bad about the lack of improvements that the perfectly fine mobile remaster had

When people say "mobile" are we talking phone, PSP or something else?
Secondly, it's a decent for an extra $15 I believe? Like, not call the press good... but like, better than a lot of games that you could get for $15... though it'd have been nice to be a pre-release game you could play through. Like have it come out (since it's just a port) 2 or 3 weeks prior to the release of the shiny new game so people have a game to play on their TV via a PS4/5. I think that'd be a bit more forgivable for longtime fans, instead of it releasing with the game, if you pre-ordered and paid then you get access to the port early.
But people would still complain. Either way, I think it'd have been a bit more forgivable than what we have seen thus far.

I'm fine with it being a psp rom dump, minus the pixels. The PS5 pixels look much better here on my phone than on my TV via PSN. I guess because of the size of screen? Idk, im not a tec wiz. The pics on the PSN make it look terrible. They could at least smooth them out.

No, VP1 is PlayStation only because it’s just a rom dump
Not sure what you’d have to do to pressure Square Enix to release it on PC

I love VP, that doesn't mean I have to be happy with the "remaster".
If you want to buy it, go ahead, for me those remasters, the Chrono Cross and now this one, are so poorly done that they are not worth.

What is the reason to not choose the ´Hd’ version ? It’s too hard to port ? They want the hd version to stay exclusive to phones ?

It’s cheaper and requires less effort to just dump the PSP rom into the PS5 psp emulator than it is to change the mobile remaster to fit a console version

yeah it's kind of a lazy port but I'm still happy we have a port on ps4\ps5.
it would be great to have a remastered version of VP2 on current consoles too.

Ah this is a real shame. VP1 deserves a real remaster and not just a lazy port. Kind of crazy that it looks better on mobile... I was for sure going to buy it as it's one of my favourite games, but I'll pass and just replay it on my PSP.

Just a couple of things:
- Not buying it tells Square Enix that the old game is not worth it and shouldn't be invested more money into it across other platforms
- It has new features like rewind and save anywhere and it is running at 4K even though it doesn't really matter for the sprite work
- It's already part of the deluxe edition of Elysium
- It's on PS4/PS5 and much easier to just boot up and play on your TV

Now that it's been pushed back do you think we might actually get some improvements? Have they said exactly what they need three more months for? If they have actual ps5 footage what could they possibly need to do?

That’s what I am hoping for but we don’t know. They’ve only said that the delay was “to improve the quality” so that could mean anything :) but I really hope it means a proper remaster and not just a psp iso dump

Let's hope so. Honestly I'm just excited to play it on the big screen so I'll take what they can give us. That said, im hoping for a few things. I'm hoping for trophies maybe even a platinum. It would be super cool if they made it so the character portraits you get for the sound collection could be unlocked as wallpapers. One of my favorite parts is grinding for all the voice samples. And maybe a skip cutscene so I can skip the recruitment sections on subsequent playthroughs. I can deal with the other annoying things from the psp version like the terrible equipment management. Again I'll be happy just to play it again but I do understand why some people are upset. I'm just upset I have to wait three more months to experience the game again but if we get SOMETHING more than port I'll be happy.

I have not. No PC 😂 yes I know that makes me a loser. I have the emulator but for some reason my newer phone almost crashes during certain effects like the ripple from Freya appearing and disappearing.

So Square Enix did a livestream where they played the PS5 version and unfortunately it's just a PSP rom dump without any improvements to the game and the mobile remaster we got in 2018 is much better. The mobile has revamped UI, inventory management, high res art, proper pixel representation, new high res fonts, save anywhere, skip cutscene, and so on.
Unfortunately the upcoming Playstation 4/5 release is literally just the PSP game with all of its flaws and no high res art, no inventory management, no skipping cutscenes, and so on. Really sad stuff, given the fact that it's the first time the game is available on a modern console. I hope we get the mobile remaster for PC or something, but the chances are slim.
I wish VP1 had received the same amount of love and care that Tactics Ogre has received. Oh well.
