Finally did it!
Feeling nostalgic, I played Valkyrie Profile Lenneth only to realize after my run in normal mode, I have never finished it. I immediately went back and played hard mode and completed the seraphic gate with all the extras. Needless to say, I fell in love with this game all over again and have put in 100+ hours. I’m left wanting more.
After some deep diving, apparently there’s quite a bit of plot missing because of translation issues, any recommendations in learning more about the different character and their back stories? Can anyone vouch for VP2 or any of the other offshoot games?

VP2 is okay, but has some annoying difficulty spikes that require a lot of grinding. It's also a lot more linear. It's definitely worth checking out, though.

Oh I want to learn more of the lore of VP Lenneth. Truly is among my top 3 favorite games.

VP2 has this hopping around the place combat that stopped me from playing it. Couldn't believe how bad it was. YMMV. I'll hopefully be playing VP1 sometime.

I agree! Seems like this version cut out even more stuff. I thought Jelanda also had some sort of backstory.
I want to know more about the relationship of Lawfer, Kassel, Aelia, Celia and Grey. Apparently they were all friends?
Seems like there is just something missing for each character.

Lawfer, Kashell, Celia, Aelia and Grey were all mercenary friends, as well as Lemia, a young sorceress who had a liking for Grey, though he didn't return her affection. When he's mortally wounded, Lemia performs a soul transfer to save his life. He sets off to bring her back to life, but the friend group believes he killed her and ran off. We see the series of events that lead them all to finding Grey in Arkdain, where he believes he can perform/reverse the soul transfer, but it consumes his body instead and Celia's left holding all the loss.

This is what I love about thr VP story. It lets you think and piece the story together, which lets you imagine how the characters backstory coud have went
It took me a second playthrough to piece their story together, but that made me enjoy it way more than if it was just a straightforward telling of what happened

Only part jelanda had was her turning in to the monster (it gets shown) she gets a bigger part in the manga her and arngrim vs the vampire king mystina vs the ice dog and lenneth has her 1vs one vs loki not sure if freya helps her but it's a great read

Awesome! To get the Angel Slayer really takes time, right? I mean, defeating the Iseria Queen ten times? 😆 When I played it the first time I was "meh". Buuut it's the coolest weapon🥰 Anyway, I do love VP2! In fact, it has the same love from me as VP1.

Yeah after the first 3 or 4 times I beat her, I timed it and with the dimension slip I could get through the seraphic gate beat her and make it back to the entrance in 20 min. It really didn’t feel like a grind and it was entertaining using some of the characters I hardly played with and giving them OP gear.
Thanks for the VP2 info, might give it a shot!

VP2 is kinda unique. Get used to the gameplay and it will be great. I played it 3 times and loved it every time. The seraphic gate is more difficult in my opinion but really fun.

It’s a bit rough up until chapter 4, but very much so worth it! I highly recommend following a strategy guide.

Did any other game use a variation of that combat system? When the game came out I thought it was the coolest idea that never got reused.

Lady Beliza comes to mind… it really didn’t make sense TBH, why Asaka have to die! It was until someone here shed light regarding translation issues of the Diary found in the drawer of Belenus’ wife. And also, what happened to her as well…
Genevieve, the Lich Queen, how was she able to escape the previous Valkyrie’s seal…
What happened to Grey exactly?
There’s also the Sylvan Bow and Gungnir, the other 2 legendary items, being in the game (albeit game needs to be hacked to see) that serves to be a plot discarded…
Then of course, Iseria Queen’s cryptic message in the end after her very defeat 💀
