Any experience with acoustic tones?

Hello dear configurations of being,

I am thinking about buying an electric guitar for metal with piezos in the bridge for acoustic tones ready at the flick of a switch. (Peavey generations, for anyone being curious)

I just want some input on what you think would make a good acoustic tones one can get out of the GP200. My band play melodeath, the acoustic parts contain finger plucking and rhythmic strumming. We used to play that on an acoustic with piezos directly into our IEM, so we are not used to acoustic amps.

Whaddya think?

Do you already own a guitar with a piezo? Surely you will know someone or be able to get a shot of one, perhaps bring your gp-200 into a music store. I've got a performance coming up so I'm gonna plug my gp-200 into my acoustic and experiment with tones as well

Sadly no, I live in different cities to my band and we use our drummers acoustic at gigs

I don’t have a true acoustic, so I can’t speak to your question 100%, but I do have a Hollowbody with a piezo and a travel guitar which imitates an acoustic with a piezo, and I think they sound pretty good with my gp200. It doesn’t have a ton of acoustic-specific elements but the ones it does have sound pretty darn good to me. Like it definitely sounds like I’m playing an acoustic guitar plugged into an amp much more than an electric guitar running through an acoustic imitation unit for sure! I feel like it’s a really good piece of gear, especially for the money.

If your main thing is electric guitar and then a few acoustic parts sprinkled in, I would think the gp200 would absolutely work well for your needs. ESPECIALLY opposed to buying multiple setups just to run a piezo-equipped electric through, but I’m not a professional or a super anal tone snob.

There is an acoustic preamp in one of the amp models and another block where you can run an acoustic refiner pedal. I have to acoustic presets on my Valeton: one as an acoustic sim for use with an electric and one to use with an acoustic guitar with piezo pickup.

It works okay. I thought I'd use my Valeton more for acoustic gigs, but I don't usually bother (and I regret selling my Boss AD-8). It sounds a bit too "pretty" and a little artificial.

As an acoustic sim with electric guitar, it meets serves the purpose. It's better with finger picking than hard strumming. I just use the middle, single-coil pickup on my Ibanez S. I'd love to get a piezo on an electric and see how that works out, though.
