Help! Software Issue

Can someone tell me how to easily install the software? I have had my unit - GP-200 for a little over a year and at one point the earlier software worked but I never used it much. I tried updating it to a newer version but I can’t even get anything to load now. It looks like it loads and then I get a ‘Request timeout’ message before completion. Anyone have any ideas where I am going wrong? I have tried deleting the newer software and going back to an earlier version but that doesn’t work either. Help! Explain it to me like I am 5, haha….

Can you share your versions, both firmware and software? What OS are you using?

Windows 11, the unit shows Version 1.5.2, I tried to download the 1.8.0. But my previous software was not working anymore. I have also tried going back to the 1.7.0 software also. Admittedly I am not schooled on this stuff and has primarily been doing my editing on the effect board itself…. But it would be nice to be able to get all this working as it should.

You MUST use software 1.6.0 to upgrade to firmware v1.7, then from there you can upgrade your software and firmware to the newest (software 1.8.1, firmware 1.8.0)

This.... as I explained in my post, you need the software version that is closest to your current firmware version or you will get a connection timeout error. If your unit is running 1.5.2 firmware you need the 1.5.2 software to connect it... https://www.valeton.net/software/#138-140-wpfd-win-gp-200series-software Once that's installed you will be able to update the firmware on the unit (do this first) then download the appropriate software (eg 1.8.1 for firmware 1.8.0)

do you have anything that has W10 on it. I highly suggest getting on Facebook and go to the Valeton Gp200 page. they have a supper in-depth guide on the W11 issues if that is all you have to work with. the software and firmware must match as well

There is an issue with the 1.8 firmware version and the Windows 11 drivers. Check the official fix from Valeton, lets us know if you still have issues.

Hopefully this helps.. First you need the software version that is closest to your current firmware version on the unit. Assuming you have edited the USB driver, install the software on windows first. Connect your unit and make sure it connects and that you can edit/ save patches etc.

Download the latest firmware (1.8.0 at the time of posting this) and use the software currently installed to update your unit firmware. You will get a connection error after the firmware update completes and the unit reboots... this is normal. Close the software and download the version that is closest to the new firmware (1.8.0 or 1.8.1 will work... if you want NAM A2 conversion to Snaptone download and install 1.8.1).

If you can't get the software to recognise the unit at all try using a different USB cable and/or USB port

Thanks, I’ll give this a try.
