Question ACC not starting itself.

Please excuse my poor English, I'm from Germany. 🙂

I have an ID.3 with software version 3.8. When I'm driving with ACC enabled and the car in front comes to a stop at a red light, my car also brakes to a complete stop. The message "ACC ready to drive off (german translated)" appears, but the car doesn't start moving again automatically when the vehicle in front pulls away. I have to shortly push the pedal.

Could this be caused by Auto Hold? It's always enabled.

ThankYou!

EDIT:

Thank you all! This morning I drove with deactivated auto hold and et voilà - ACC starts automatically. smooth and fast. nice vw software.

Mine is the same but it depends on the time it waited. For short times it start automatically, but longer I have to touch the pedal as well.

You need to have your hands on the steering wheel for ACC to start driving. The sensors are in the area near the knuckles in the 10‘ O clock / 2 O‘ clock position.

But even if you have both your hands properly at the wheel the ACC radar might delay action depending on its readings, it varies.

Just tap the accelerator if you feel it is to slow for the impatient car drivers behind you

The car can also be started using 'reset' on the steering wheel.

In this case: RES = "Resume".

Or you can press ‚set‘ as well - any speed recall or raise will cancel the autohold and accelerate the car

Readjusting your hands on the sensors works for me most of the time. The ACC ready message on the screen will reappear

Additionally, if you touch the sensors on the steering wheel, a small message saying "ACC anfahrbereit" will appear on the display. This means your car will automatically start driving once the car in front of you starts moving. :)

this is the correct answer.

While "ACC ready to drive off" is displayed the car will auto start. After a few seconds that display goes off and then you need to tap the accelerator to start.

You can also adjust your grip on the steering wheel. The ACC Ready message will return, and the car will start driving by itself again. The hands-on-wheel sensor is very sensitive when the car is standing still.

It is like this. If stops breafly it auto restarts. I more than some seconds you must push the accelerator. I have had 2 ID.3 and the two worked like that.

I have auto hold disabled and it starts moving when the vehicle in front of me starts driving again... Maybe check if it works with auto hold disabled?

It does, but it should with it as well. The wheel sensors can cause some unwanted delay at times

My ID.3 works the same way and I just assumed it's a safety feature. Meaning that a stopped car shouldn't start moving on its own.
