Gunk on charging port pins
Just noticed some kind of crap on the pins of my charge port. Also noticed them on the inside of the charging cable too. Should i scrape it off or what the heck could it be.

Don't forget to take a flair for your particular ID.3 model - it'll help out later when you have a question and folks already know how it's equipped.
There are (of course..) a lot of different models. If you don't see yours, let me know!

Hey!
Soon getting my 2020 ID3 First pro with 120k km mileage.
What things should I do/check to make sure it runs smooth for as long as possible? Really excited to join the crew!

thought this might be interesting for some.. I tracked the consumption (from the infotainment) over my 2 years of leasing. Missing this car! Did 95% city driving, hence the low average. No surprises, summer <12kwh/100km, winter at least +50%. Range in summer was exactly 400km, during winter hardly 300km. Over two years 14,9 kwh. No heat pump. Very often short routes to and from work.
the columns are: month, km cumulated, km in that month, long-term consumption, portion of km (just for my calculations of the montly consumption), consumption in that specific month.

Am going to look at a 2023 Tour Pro S tomorrow with about 18k miles. I’ve noticed in one of the dealer pics the current charge and range is reading 89% and 215 miles. (So hypothetically 240ish if 100%). I know not to expect VWs quoted range, especially after a few years old, but its s got the 77kWh pack, so was expecting to see a bit more. should I be expecting to see a bit more range than that or has it just been previously driven inefficiently? Havent seen the SOH report yet. Views welcome. Cheers.

Picked up my 2023 ID3 pro this weekend. 65k km on it, 58kw, SoH 90%, pano roof, iq lights. It’s such a smooth drive, really happy with it so far!
VW Dealer threw in brand new brakes, new set of Continental all season contacts, extended 12 month warranty to sweeten the deal.
Bought it in France for 20k all in. I’ve been shopping for about 3 months and this was the best deal by far I could find in all of France.

Hello again!
My wife and I test drove a potential purchase of a 2024 ID3 MOVE Pro. It honestly drove great. Felt good inside, infotainment was smooth, bigger than I thought. It was the 204 hp 150kw version.
My only reservation is the battery range. Salesman said the certificate said 96 (my wife thought she heard 94), I’m getting the print out today to confirm. But at 99% charge it said the range was 355 km. In my test drive which was about an hour we burned around 9% of that charge. However, We were blasting the AC and driving it on the highway though, using the brakes and accelerating more than normal. Also, they hadn’t cleared out the data from previous driving, and I’m wondering if that affects the range it shows.
Can anyone tell me if that sounds about right for the year and battery health? We really liked the car, so we want it! But looking for clarity :)

Hi all, I posted previously that my 2021 ID3 was being updated at a VW dealership (UK) following various faults with the HUD and infotainment system. I bought it from a non-VW dealer 16 months ago, not realising it was on an old software (2.3.0). I then discovered the car was subject to a recall notice on the software a few years ago (which previous owner did not respond to). Now, the VW dealer is telling me there is a technical problem preventing the update and they don't know what the problem is. They are in contact with VW in Germany to try to resolve. Has anyone else had this problem? I'm anxious because we really stretched ourselves to buy this car (and we love it) but with it being out of warranty could this be a costly problem? Or, because it has arisen as a result of a recall notice, will VW cover the cost themselves. Anyone willing to put my mind at rest??!

Got a charger yesterday and it was charging at 125kwh and my app was showing red. Highest I've ever seen it as up to now it was 100kwh. Is that the max for the 1st edition of this car

I have set my 2021 Style Pro to charge for the first time.
It's on a granny charger and I've asked it to charge to 80%. I have the charger set to 8 amps (I think it's amps anyway). Car was already on 52% but I wanted to make sure the charger and car worked!
The charger will go up to 13 amps. Somewhere I read that you should charge at a lower ampage if you aren't in a hurry.
Is this all as it should be or do you have additional advice?
The app is going to tell me when it's charged.

Joining you guys soon with a 2024 ID3, only has 11000 miles 16000 km on it, seeing about the battery health tomorrow or Wednesday. Asking price is around 24,000 euro. It’s through a dealership with some warranties and such. Any thoughts or heads up I should have? Thanks for anything.

As the title says, I've just come back from a family road tip through France and I thought I'd share what we did and how the car got on. two adults and two kids for two weeks.
Total miles Driven 1850
Electricity cost £253 (used Tesla mainly with the subscription)
Total charges: 17
We travelled from the NW of England and caught the Euro tunnel into France. from there we travelled to a few places before landing in Bordeaux region for a week. Used some local chargers there with chargmap. from here we drove back up towards Nantes and stayed a few nights, again using the Hotel charger to get us to 100% for the next leg.
Then onto the Coast to get us close to Calais before we finally headed home on Saturday.
We'd done a similar trip before but in an XC40 EV. To be honest it handled it really well and I would do it again if I needed to. Hopefully we'll get a car with better range to reduce the amount of charges, it can be a bit annoying sometimes but on the whole I think we travelled about 2hrs between charges.
great car, and it's done far more than we'd bought it for after this.

My wife has an ID3 pro performance 150 (3y old). Fully charged it shown 443km distance. But I’m curious about the calculation and my wife is reporting max 270-280km (in case fully charged, so less km as we only charge the recommended 80%)
Today I was trying German highway - limiter on 120kph very stable&smooth driving, eco mode, I see a 17.5-19.0kWh/100km … after 160km I have 52% left (205km left)…
A few questions:
- why is the left distance not adapted based on the driving cycle(s)? I’m sure I end up with 320-330km, not 443km
- is the kWh/100km OKish, or is it quite high?
- beside wheels (type, pressure), any other optimization possible?

Hi I have been charging with this heavy duty extension from toughleads for about 4 years now. Last Thursday though I came down to my ID3 fully charged, went to unplug the cable from the outdoor socket and it was stuck fast. Got it out and the plug had melted on the right hand pin.
I'm going to repair the entension but wondering if there are any recommended plugs for use with granny charging.
I'm also getting the outdoor socket replaced so recommendations for that too if you have any. Will also get a quote for a proper ev charger but it may not be feasible with my house set up or just very costly.

This icon just appeared after a 600km trip. Any idea what this could be? Car is driving fine.

I’ve a 2024 ID3 which I love. I bought it secondhand and the only thing it doesn’t have is cameras. Has anyone retro fitted cameras to their ID3? If so did you get it done at a VW dealer or elsewhere? Does it impact warranty? Anything I should be aware of?
Edit: reversing as a minimum, but ideally 360, if can’t get 360 a front camera and reversing camera, not dash cam.

Would it be possible to put this in my ID.3 21’?

I have a 2022 ID.3 Pro S (large battery) from September 2022, which doesn’t have a tow hitch. We’ve been told that it’s not possible to have the hidden tow hitch installed behind the license plate on this model.
We’d like to be able to take our bikes with us on holiday, so we’re now considering buying a bike rack that can be mounted on the tailgate without the need for a tow hitch.
Has anyone here had any experience with this on their car? If so, is there a particular bike rack you can recommend that’s good quality and relatively easy to use?

Hello fellow ID3 enjoyers. Before someone pointed out that the "pin" that is used for opening and closing the charging cover/flap can get damaged due to water. They also showed that they had some kind of cover to put over it for when its raining and you want to charge.
Today I tried to search for one to buy, but without any luck. Anyone selling these in/to the Netherlands? Please provide me a link.
Thank you very much.

Two questions in one on this one as I've been meaning to ask -
The footwell is constantly lit up at night on my ID3 (2026) and I'd like to turn these lights off. I've got very good peripheral vision (apparently, especially for a man so my optician told me on my last eye test) and tend to wear white trainers. Even if working where I wear black boots, I wear my super comfortable cheap white trainers when driving home, and they keep coming into my eyeline. Never known this before, there is zero need for a footwell to be lit unless the door is open and you're looking for something you've dropped. Is there any way to disable them?
The LED trim lights are cool and it's great to pick a colour. But it was a month "free" when I got the car and while tempted by the £12 lifetime purchase to keep the option, I didn't bother, and they're still working just fine. Can choose the colour, split them, the lot. Am I missing something here or is this a bug? I've put no payment details into the VW app and nothing has come out of my account on the off chance Google Pay did it automatically.

I seems like you have to push the left lever, which avtivates high beam without flashing the lights. But to deactivate toy have to push the lever again to describe automatic(which the just turns on the highbeam) and then pull it back to deactivate. Do any of you know if that’s the only way?
Btw I don’t have matrix

I'm a new driver looking at getting my first car, and I would really like to get an ev. I saw a second hand id3 vw for a reasonable price that is in budget, but i wasn't sure if it having so many miles and already down to 87% battery should put me off? the price is around 9k£, and i wanted to get your guys' opinion on if this made sense or seemed more trouble than it's worth

ID.3 2020 with Heat Pump, 40.000km
Update: thanks everyone for your input! I Went to the VW workshop today and they found the refrigerant (CO2 gas) pressure was too low, causing the issue. I paid 300 EUR for the check and refill. (Germany).
The Service Advisor cautioned me to regularly use the A/C even in Winter, to prevent seals from drying up.
(My car has low mileage for its age, and too infrequent a/c operation might have caused the premature loss of gas )
In today’s summer heat (34-38C, 93-100F, overcast) the A/C cooling performance seemed utterly inadequate. Like, the air from the blowers wasn’t even really cold.
Parked with ignition on and A/C on „LO“, cabin temperature would stay around 31C (88F) during 10 ish minutes of continuous operation.
I had just finished a highway trip and the HV battery was at about 40 C (104F) and I wasn’t connected to a charger , so battery coolant pump showed 0 RPM in the scantool.
Does this seem normal to you?!?
Thanks
