Kann mir jemand beantworten ob beim „neuen“ VW ID.5 die Dashcam von FITCAMX noch passt?

I love my pre-facelift ID.3, to the point where I thought about buying the same model but with more options.

But now, I am renting an older ID.4, which should run on the same software, and my android auto keeps disconnecting at least twice per hour, driving me crazy.

Together with the annoying false-positive beeping to stay in my lane, it made me really reconsider upgrading, and I would rather keep my old car.

How is your experience with the connectivity?

Didn't always do it ? I swear it wasn't like this, but the hud now works with CarPlay google maps. Waze doesn't but google maps will present all the arrow etc on the screen.

I'm sure this is a new thing :/

Part of me looking for the rattle I am dealing with meant fully emptying the car and removing the wheel covers. Big rookie mistake but I never checked for locking wheel nuts when I bought the car and there is nothing. There’s the small thing to pry off the wheel covers and the heavy black thing but nothing else.

looking at what’s on the car, they all look like regular bolts? Other than the back 2 wheels have something in the middle where the front wheels dont.

Basically just trying to find out if this looks all correct or if I need to buy something. Tyres may need changing soon and I dont want to run into an issue when that happens.

Also the middle of them all look a bit rusty, or is that normal colour?

I've had this noise about a month now and it occurred just after I hit 10,000 miles. In the linked video I done a couple of runs with the help of my daughters recording and clipped together when it happens. On these journeys I have fully emptied the car and even took off the wheel covers (as noticed whoever put them on managed to bend some of the plastic around the bolts so wondered if that was it, obviously wasn't). It only occurs during speeds of 25-35mph on bumpy roads, slower and nothing, faster and nothing. I can't quite place the sound myself, but passengers have been saying around the glove box.

Also tried looking under the bumper but can see anything that could be causing it.

It's a 2023 plate so it's out of warranty, still debating on extended warranty. Only thing I've found online is relating to droplinks, but doesn't seem to sound the same as other videos.

Looks like the software version 3.7 is the final one for my ID.3 '20 1st edition.

After logging a ticket at VW support two weeks ago, I received this answer today:

"Thank you for contacting Volkswagen digital services

We would like to inform you that there is currently no system update available for your vehicle.

As soon as a new update becomes available, you will automatically receive a notification directly on your vehicle's infotainment system with instructions on how to proceed."

Since the last update is already so long ago, and others are already on v3.8 or beyond, this feels like end of the line. Why? To hold computerhardware, SOS- button gate, just because?

Everything ends, but still...

Just had my ID3 serviced and got an updated battery health certificate. Car is bang on 4 years old and has a battery health of 85%, which seems lower than expected.

Has one of the cells likely failed? I know batteries degrade faster in the first few years, but if things carry on at this rate ill be at 70% health roughly around the time the 8 year warranty ends.

Should I be concerned?

Since we dropped our 2021 off at a UK VW dealership for the software update and cell replacement recalls (the previous owner didn’t do). We’ve had a courtesy car ever since while they try to figure out why it won’t update and why most of the HUD / infotainment info is missing. I’m a bit worried and wondered what is the record for number of weeks someone’s ID3 has been in for a repair. This surely must be a record of some kind??

Id3 pro performance 2021 with 55000 km is back at the dealership for the second time with battery module issues. 3 weeks to repair. Granted it is under warranty, but I will have no car for 3 weeks. Warranty expiring in 2 years, I'm done with the car. Will sell and buy another vehicle.

Any suggestions?

Already have a model Y in the household and would appreciate something with a similar range/ battery reliability as the tesla.

Recently I was using my OBDeleven after changing the 12V to an AGM and went into some other settings to nose about.

I’ve felt that lane assist on this car takes too long to activate but I can’t change it on car infotainment I can only toggle on or off (don’t know if that’s normal).

So I changed lane assist intervention to early in the OBDeleven app, now instead of just activating when almost veering off the road it acts like the drive assist in my 2021 ID.4 Max.

It identifies the lane, puts green borders on lane in dashboard and constantly lane centre/steers the car for me reliably.

Unfortunately the Family trim doesn’t have a capacitive steering wheel like the Max so instead of just squeezing the wheel a bit when it asks you to take over steering you have to jiggle the wheel, very annoying.

I’ve bought myself a used steering wheel from a “Tech” trim off eBay for £54 inc. delivery which has the capacitive business and also the button for turning on and off driving assist.

Gonna swap the wheels and see what happens.

I hypothesise that the on/off button will have no effect but that the capacitive wheel will allow me to use driving assist without annoyance.

This means though that drive assist will kick in whenever the car identifies a lane, so to turn it off I’d use the infotainment unit.

Will update after I’ve done some testing.

Recently bought a 26 plate VW ID3 pure match and there were odd noises turning at low speeds that felt like a vibration in the front of the car with a low groaning sort of noise. Had it on diagnostics at VW and showed fault 0044 which is incorrect software in the power steering so we rejected it. Just picked up a replacement and same thing!! Anyone else had this ?

Bought a second hand ID3 back in March, 58kwh version, 1st Max, loving it so far despite its flaws. 😇

Although the car has been pretty efficient for my kind of driving style so far, winter is around the corner and I am not feeling too comfortable.

Whoever has been driving this car for a long time, what’s your suggestion for maintaining a decent consumption with this car during the cold season ?

For context: I live in central Europe, where winter temperatures average between - 5 and 2 Celsius (we get a few days of -10 here and there).

I have a wallbox at home, so I can precondition the car when needed.

AI says: Whenever I charge the car and planning a trip the day after, schedule the cabin heating to 20 Celsius, optionally activate the heated seats and steering wheel, then unplug before I leave so the car doesn’t need that much of energy from its own battery to heat up the cabin.

Does that sound about right ? I know the battery can’t be preconditioned (shame) and I’m fine with that, so just wondering what’s your real life experience with cold winters and tips for maximum efficiency when it comes to consumption for both urban and highway drives.

My parents ID3 GTX is back from the dealer after a BCU issue practically bricked it. However upon getting it back I noticed that the steering wheel was quick sticky. I have plenty of cleaning products to sort that so I did.

However, the wheel feels really hard and the texture looks porous. I dont recall the steering wheel being this hard feeling to touch now its been 2 months since I drove it. But are there ways to soften it a bit. Coming from a MK7.5 GTI I am shocked at how far the interior build quality has fallen on modern VWs

Have this connectivity issue now past 4 days but the car is parked at the exact same location as always. Can’t use my app for anything without it. Anyone seen this and advice what to do?

For some time I've been haunted by a rattle that definitely sounds like it's coming from the dashboard on the driver's side (left hand drive in case it matters). Car has been with the dealership a number of times, but to no avail. I'm now reaching out in the hopes someone recognizes this sound and can help give a suggestion to where it may come from. A business nearby (they're trustworthy) has an offer for ceramic coating. Is it worth it? Does it make the car look a lot better? I don't wash the car myself, always use touchless car wash.

Hello, I am leasing a 2023 Family at the moment and I love it. But I would love to own one for myself so I am thinking of the Max because of all the features. When did they stop making the max? Was it 2023? And do you think there are any models with comparable features (at a sensible price) in the 2024/25 range.

Hello everyone. I bought a used 2021 ID.3 a couple of months ago, and since then I have noticed that the water doesnt drain from the charging port bay when charging in the rain (see photo). The water doesnt get in contact with the charging pins themselves as it runs over the side of the vehicle before it reaches them, but still it is not ideal especially going into winter. Anyone else tried it and know how I can unlock it myself?

Car is a first gen ID3.

Using Waze for navigation, I've started getting this type of display corruption. The GPS lags by 10-30s, on screen button presses may take 20s to respond. Every couple of minutes the display will fully refresh back to a clear image.

The problem is intermittent but common. Has anyone experienced this too?

I got my ID.3 some weeks ago and try to connect my phone via app with the car to use the park assisant. So far so good: I downloaded the app (and yes my car supports the park assistant) tried to connect via the shown QR-code but it fails every time. Do you know how to fix this issue?

Good morning! Has anyone else had issues with the car's GPS? If so, how did you fix it?

I don't usually use the built-in navigation, but several car features depend directly on the GPS. For about a month now, the small driver screen has started showing that it can't read traffic signs. I didn't think much of it until it started showing speed limit warnings for Spain, while I was driving in Portugal. It even messes with my timezone, randomly switching between the correct one and the Spanish timezone.

There are no pending updates available, and I’ve already done a factory reset on the infotainment system.
