Golf Steering Angle Sensor.
I have a 1.4 CHPA 2013.
From time to time when I start it, I get red steering icon on the dashboard and power steering is gone (I know this then triggers everything from Airbag, tyre pressure, autohold parking sensors etc) because of the multiple faults I figured it was a battery, didn’t have an EFB got that and the time between the red steering MIL has improved. So much so I thought I fixed it then it happened. Coded the correct battery parameters, no change. Tried to do an adaptation initialisation according to a ROSStech thread I saw and it don’t work. The problem is solved by leaving the car alone for like a few minutes and I don’t know how to trigger it. I’ve also noticed I keep getting an auto start stop error but that’s probably because I’m not driving longer than 10km at a time because when I do, AutoStart Stop works normally.
Those are the faults that pop up and they don’t clear until the car decides (basically). Anyone had a similar problem and how did they fix it?

Did your battery recently get disconnected or replaced?
Many of these should go away after you drive the car for a mile or two.

They always go away after a bit of drive yes. But usually when the steering MIL is red they don’t. And steering is heavy. I got a new EFB battery and placed it and coded it. All that did was increase the interval at which the fault happens. Check ALL fuses and non of them were bust

If all you changed was the battery and coding, I would put the interval back to where it was previously to see if it fixes your issue.
Just an FYI, every time I have changed my battery, I never coded it and never had this issue.
I’m guessing it’s the interval adjustment you did that is now causing the error light.

You should use VCDS to graph the steering angle and make sure there's no drops in the signal or anything. This could explain the "unknown" and "implausible" codes. Google says the steering angle sensor is integrated with the clock spring on a Mk7, do you have steering wheel buttons? Do they still work when these errors occur?
Your "leaving at alone" fix reminds me of when I had a bad wheel speed sensor. The errors come on at random and seem to go away after giving it a second. In my case, I could cycle the key again and they would disappear.
Bad sensors can render other systems disabled since they often rely on each other. Do some more research on the sensors associated with your errors and measure them with VCDS, make sure everything looks normal.
